Just put a new one in. Is there a way to adjust this bad boy w/out a scan tool? I figure I could just put it in as closely to the old one was set and go. It's hunting for an idle a little and haven't played w/ the idle stop screw yet.

Well maybe once I pick it up maybe ChickenKiller will help me set right since he's got all those tools over there. eh-eh.....:)

Silas
Get two pins from a pincushion push them thru the wires. Hook your probes to the pins and then adjust as necessary.

Are you checking for a voltage or resistance reading

That's what I did (what Roy suggested) but I also lengthened out where the retaining screws are so I could get a little more of a turn.....

Roy I'm checking volt and resistance. Thanks again.

Yo Silas,

What they mean is to use your multimeter on the voltage setting to adjust it. Also, dude was talking about elongating the holes for mounting on the tps. Don't see much reason to do this unless you got some custom engine combo goin that requires this.

you had me flenching Chickenkiller. For a second when I saw you posted I thought you were gonna tell him to set his TPS to .98 at idle :) (5.0 inside info)

FWIW, as long as .90 volts closed and above 4.0 volts WOT, the PCM will know its 0% and 100% open respectively.

I always try and go by the book on user adjustable things like that. Seems like most TPS's are non-adjustable these days anyway. No one setting for all applies. What was dude talking about elongating the mounting holes in TPS for? I've never heard of a need to do this?? Or have I misread the post? In theory I guess you could richen it up somewhat that way but with the fuzzy logic on most cars today I wouldn't think it would work.

Just me rambling

people elongate the mounting holes on the tps so it can be rotated more to fine tune the idle voltage. (that was the reference to the 5.0 in my above post) Pretty much useless on these cars (93-up) fbodies, cuz like I said before. as long as its under .9 volts at idle, and above 4volts at WOT the computer could care less. If you could monitor the TPP settings at the same time, you'd see this was true (ala scanmaster).
