I have just got word from the wife that my camaro only got 153 miles to the tank full, and thats TOPPED OFF!! I have new O2's in, o2 sims, Ed Wright PCM. I thought the stock PCM was killing the mileage due to the mods, but it is the same with the new "mail tune"!!
I wasnt even driving the car hard either as I just installed the new tranny, and the clutch is on its way out.
I am about to pull my hair out!!
Any suggestions? I am going to dive in this thing when I get back!
Mods: Shorty headers, no cats, Ed Wright PCM, 4.10's Hotcam kit, usual bolt ons.

Do you have any way of monitoring closed loop operation? Like a scan tool or laptop interface of some sort? I'd want to know first whether you are entering closed loop operation.
What kind of mods have you done? cooler thermostat? wild cam etc...

ok sorry saw the list of mods when I posted. Need to know whether you are reaching closed loop while driving it.
Did you install a cooler thermostat?

Jeff
what are your cruise rpms when driving around town and stuff.
I know when I am just driving I usually cruise around 3000 rpms . Not good for the gas mileage. I usually get between 10-12 mpg doing this.

When I cruise around town I try to keep it as quiety as possible, especially with this last tank of gas and the new tranny. I'd say I average around the 2500-3000 range. I really babied the car this last time.
I do have a 160 thermo in it. Seems I didnt have this problem before I gutted the cats and installed the headers, but I figured the custom tune and the o2 simms would handle any gremlins of this sort. The car seems to run at 180. I have no scanner or laptop so I couldnt tell you about the closed loop.
Cam info...
GM LT4 hot cam 218/228 Dur. .525 i/e
Anyone have a OBD2 scanner???

160 thermostat, headers and gutted cats make a car run cooler for sure. My guess is you may be dropping out of closed loop. How bad is your gas mileage? What is it and what should it be?
I have a scantool here at my shop in Ramstein where I work.

you bring up a good point chickenkiller, but I doubt Jeff is falling out of the loop. Even with Meizere,160 stat, L tubes, OR pipes, and 2 bottles of water wetter my car hovers at 178-185.
BTW Jeff, I average 180 to a tank, but that is 95% city driving. Even with the 4.10's 6th gear is just for looks I stay at 2500-3000 rpm for no reason other than because I can

I got stuck on Guard Duty. I will be off of it this weekend though, but Roy and I might be having a Clutch-O-Rama this weekend. I will see if I can make it out there this weekend. I will let you know.
