The other thread died or locked up.
Alright here is a couple more things to confuse the masses
The acronym DIN . In english means German Institute of Standards. This is the Standards that is used by all of Europe. So when you see 288PS (HP)DIN . It was acomplished under strict control measures.
Now to answer BHP(BPS) . Guaranteed that 288HP(PS) is taken off the Flywheel with full accesories.
Also there is HP SAE (Society of automotive Engineers) This is the American Istitute of Standards. Since the testing methods differ slightly between the two . You will have slightly different readings.
For Euro V8 LS's the major horse power reduction is caused by the v6 muffler system that is installed to meet the noise polution laws of the EU. That is why you will never see a Euro spec SS or ZO6 in europe.
Anthing else
Oh yeah what is exactly a "Limey"?

Thanks for the clarification. Now HP, PS DIN etc. is as clear as mud.
Basically the LS1 is 288HP with the horrible muffler and 305HP stock with the US exhaust system.
Limey, blimey - have you been watching Only fools and horses?
I'm not sure when it comes from, something to do with Londoners.

The English were called Limeys as long sea voyages meant they suffered with scurvy which is occasioned by a lack of Vitamin C. Accordingly, they carried limes to replenish their Vitamin C supplies and keep scurvy away. Hence the name. Not sure about Poms, perhaps something to do with apples? Now why "Yankees".
