Sven... Cool thanks for the #'s. I am going to explore all the options, I haven't made up my mind yet though... I will prolly try and see if I can mess it up any more with me fixing it. Then when it is in 1000 pieces take it to Opel and throw it on their desk, ask them in my best German, to fix it. :)

Roy... Yeah it smells kinda burnt, like popcorn. But I didn't notice anything metal in it.

See this same thing happened to my car... but after it cooled down it was back to normal. And I didn't loose reverse, but I am not sure with this one.

Did I mention that the wife is pissed?

I got my plugs replaced. I learned a little trick I'll bring up later. But now I think I have a drive train problem too. What is up with the '94's and transmission problems. I'm having major problem.. I'm getting like a power suge problem. The engine sounds great. No missing no knocks smooth as can be. When I drive its like ther is a stumble or pull deal. I don't think its the engine. My rpm gauge reads perfect. It doesn't fluxuate as I drive and the stumble is constant. As soon as the car hits drive or over drive it starts to act up. I'm mad and I'm thinking of selling. But I don't want to. Can you guys help. rt1 I'm on GAAF too. I'm in big windy. If you know of any fixes or want to check it out call me this weekend 0174-287-5148. All help will be appriciated.

zcam94, don't you have the white Z with the black front on it? If this is you, I am the one that bought the 150mph gauge cluster from that Z that Randy was taking apart. I've got that Silver V6. I haven't seen you around in a while. Where you been? I will give you a call, misery loves company. I don't think that I could diagnose anything, but I was talking to Chevythunder today up at Leighton, and he mentioned that a good tranny flush has done wonders for Glen. Like I said, i'll call you this weekend.

YOU ARE QUITE WELCOME, RT1. HOPEFULLY YOU CAN GET IT FIXED BUT WORST CASE SCENARIO, YOU CAN GIVE MR. BILMIER (SPELLED CORRECTLY THIS TIME-INSTEAD OF BEILMIER)A CALL. AROUND ONE MONTH LATER THE CAR WILL BE ROLLING STRONG AND YOU'LL BE OUT OF THE DOGHOUSE.

Rob,
I know how you are feelin'. Should you choose the rebuild route you can use the rebuild manuals that I have for the 4L60E. My tranny was just rebuilt, as you already know. It might be better just to swap out the tranny from RT1 until you do find a solution. You know, just to get you out of the dog house. That way you can at least justify it with the little lady. Maybe she will even have compasion on ya. In reference to the rebuild kit, lemme know. My father can send me the same one that GM use when the rebuild trannies. Good luck.

Rob I have several friends with the 4l60e trany that have over heated both in vettes and fbodies . Even though some had changed fluid and some didn't . The tranny's were never the same and eventually failed completely. Changing the fluid may buy a little time (plus you get to see how much clutch material and metal is in the bottom of the pan), but it is inevitable that it will go completely out.

Once you replace or repair this tranny it is best to buy a tranny temp guage and an external tranny cooler. On the external cooler have the fluid come directly in first then have it routed to the tranny cooler in the radiator. If it is routed exactly opposite of this the fluid will run too cool (dependent on ext/cooler size) and the T/C will not lock or stay locked when driving.
optimal fluid temp for all A/T in general is between 195 and 240 degs F. Extended temps at 260 or higher or spikes to 300 degs will cause degraded tranny performance and shorten the life of the tranny.

Sorry I haven't been keeping in touch lately. I have been very busy this past week. I just got back on days. I still want to help you out with the tranny problem. Have you tried to do any troubleshooting yet? If so what did you find out?

Roy... thanks for the info, I just went looking at some coolers for the tranny. They really are cheep, compaired to the cost of a rebuild. Gil, they seem rather easy to put on also.

Hotrod... I haven't done anything since the e-mails I sent you. I didn't know if you got them. I was waiting to hear from you to see if it would be good to drive it Schweinfurt to get it on the code machine. I still need to call Glen, anyways. What is your phone #, so I can talk in person. I am at 0160 262 5744, or home is 09366 990094.

Are you at Ramstein? If that is the case, then you are about 2 maybe 2 and a half hours away. Just let me know when. I could have ADAC tow it over there if you want. Should I just go ahead and get a rebuild kit? I think it is f^%$ered enough to have to get one.

No I'm coming from Bitburg. So that would make it a 3.5 to 4 hour trip. I thought that you were closer. The stock 4L60E tranny is made to handle stock engines. If you start putting more ponies behind it then eventually you will need to rebuild it. I would suggest a rebuild kit that is better than the stock replacement. It might cost you a little more but it is worth it in the long run.

Hotrod... Yeah, I have been looking at the jet performance rebuild kit. I was thinking that maybe it needed a bit of an upgrade, considering that it is the same tranny that is in my V6 Camaro also. I got some more ?s for you, I think I will put them in an e-mail.

Jr and myself just got done trouble shooting his and come to the conclusion the he needs a rebuild and a possible hard part replacement(Apply piston cracked, no codes).
I was looking at a 4L60-E tranny book from ATSG and the condition that you are having points to the Low-Reverse clutch. I do remember when I went to the class the instructor said that that part is the week point in that transmission. He said that hard racing will break that part. I do not know how much that will cost but you have to tear down the tranny to get to it. So once you are there you might as well order a rebuild kit that is better than stock. I have a place to do it over here. It depends on how you want to do it. Pull it yourself or have me pull it. We will decide on the price when we talk on the phone. Give me your number or call me at 06562932957.

Later dude
