 Post subject: Help me prove a point

I need some of you big horsepower guys who can run on the highway to try something for me. When I say big hp, I mean around 400+hp (flywheel) and you have to be able to run on the 'bahn up to about 120mph. Now here's the deal, I had a heated debat with some other bike and car owners about this a while back. My theory is; a car about the weight of an LT-1/LS-1 with 400+hp will walk a sport bike from an 80mph roll-on(providing the car has proper gearing) I'm guessin 2.73's are too tall and anything shorter than 4.10's might hurt highway performance, but that's my opion, don't know. The bikes discussed were a Suzuki TL1000, Honda superhawk, Honda CBR900RR, Suzuki GSXR750R(not srad, pre srad)....now, don't be silly and try this with a ZX12, Hayabusa, R1, or any of the big boy crotch rockets....I'm talking GSXR750 SRAD and smaller/slower. I want to prove to these guys that bikes aren't as fast as they think they are. The race has to be a highway run from ~80mph....any slower, and the car will loose too much ground to make up in a timely manner;)...don't even think about going from a dead stop, you will get all kinds of raped:) ....any one ever ran against any bike under similar conditions? any one willing to try?

I havent had the chance to run a bike yet. I am guessing I am almost up to your requirements. But those bikes are twin cylinder bikes right? Much slower than the 4-cyl. variety. Sport bikes arent invincible like thier owners tend to think.

I know Bruce or John wouldnt have any problems with these guys.

Are you on crack? I'm 28 and I've got three crotch rockets under my belt in a roll-on race, not to mention I've owned three; FZR600, piped and jetted....YZF600R, piped ,jetted, 4 degrees ign. advance, ZX7, piped, jetted, heads ported, larger carbs....get the point? so I guess these aren't theories, I've proven my point, but I want someone else to do the same, makes it solid and undisputable.....you are bored aren't you;)

nope, only the superhawk and TL are twins, all other are I4's....the CBR900RR should be the fastest of them all, with the SRAD Gixxer comming in at a close second.

I have wasted alot of bikes do not know the sizes though. Bottom line if the Bahn is clear I have not seen too many people willing to go 180+ MPH on a bike.

I have smoked a couple bikes myself, but I don't know the sizes of them, or whether they were just too scared.. :)

No bikes for me either....except at the Ring of course. Had one challenge me on the last straight and barely walked me past 140. It was a 1000cc though and I had a co-pilot weighing a good 220. I'm just a 145. On the bahn though the sound itimidates more than anything else. I'd like to try though and see what happens.

I'd like to hear your car next to mine:) Anyway, only time I TRIED to run a bike was on the bahn and he was doing whealies, or however you spell it, behing my bumber at 100mph so I just moved over and he was gone. I don't mess with bikes to much...Mike

I had a 89 GSXR 750, jetted and race pipe. When I was stationed in Manheim I use to go to Hockenheim(sp?) all the time with my friends. Anyway, I got walked by a Mercedes on the autobahn by it. I don't know much about the Mercedes except it was white and fast. It stayed close behind me until I hit 155 (max speed for my bike) and then I moved over and it walked on past me. It was a pretty humbling experiance for me. So I would have to say that yes, a car can out run a bike on the Bahn.

I raced a bike and destroyed it on a light to light race. There was an old man on a mo-ped who was reving his pedals at me so I didn't back down from the challendge. I put my station wagon in first and beat him to the next light. I feel so proud of myself it's not funny. :)
