Wondering if anyone might have some info on why my stock tachometer does not work. I have a signal coming from the white wire out of the computor that at idle registers 1.19 volts, then when i hit the gas it goes up to like 4 volts. I traced the wire all the way up under the dash and I have conntinuty in the wire, but for some reason the voltage at idle is .96 volts and when I hit the gas no increase occurs. I thought the problem might have been in the cluster itself, but I tried changing it out with another one a still the same problem everything workes except the darn tach. This is a 1994 Z-28 with OBD 1 electronics. I have also hooked up an aftermarket tach to the same white wire running out of the computor and the aftermarket one worked fine. I stumped!!!

The only thing I could tell you is the actual connector is bad. This is an Idea for you to try, run a wire from the ingnition module to the stock tac (pink wire on the ignition module) if this doesn't work I would have to say your tac or wire maybe bad. Good luck
