I own a 94' Firehawk which I am going to sell that has a rear main seal leak(seap). It is not bad enough to be affecting the clutch or anything but is noticable on car inspections. I am looking for suggestions on where to get it replaced and how much it should cost. I believe it should cost around $300. I live in Katterbach, Germany. Thanks.

Are you totally sure that it's the RMS.... and not the intake seal? I thought my RMS went bad but it turned out to just be the back side of my intake..... it did drip pretty good. The only advice though on where NOT to bring it is to any OPEL dealers... they will mess it up worse than it was when you first brought it in and charge you somewhere around 900 euros... I know because it happened to a buddy of mine....

I am sure it is the RMS. The nearest Pontiac dealership is teh GM-House in Wurzburg. Has anyone dealt with these people and are they reputable?

Do you already have it sold? If not, how much are you asking?

Pop the drive shaft, pull the tranny and change it yourself. There are plenty of guys on here that would help you out im sure, and would only take the better part of a day to do.

A craft shop should have everything you need, which isnt much. A slide hammer, is about the most exotic thing you'd need.

Well this job is a little more complicated than I am willing to handle. I just want to get it fixed so I can sell it. I am going to ask $10,000 for it. It has only 58,000 miles on it.

Could you post some picture of it? What condition is it in?

There are enough people around to help knot that out but Hawk and Don seem to have good work done at Opel Schwartzkopf in Amberg. They put a set of special headgaskets on Hawks 6 cylinder and you would not belive the power gain. Its on 299 as you go from autobahn 6 through to Graf.
