Hi,

I look for a long time into ebay.com for cheep rotors. My TRAN AM 1996 is a "normal" car. I need now new rotors, which I can use on German Autobahn with over 240 km/h speed drive.

Can I use every rotor (eg. slotted and drilled rotors) from USA on German Autobahn with over 240 km/h drive/stop bracking?

I ask, because in USA are the high speed limit on 120 km/h?

So are the rotors also good/made for 240 km/h speed on German Autobahn?

Does it not crake or brake on this high speed?

What are use you???

Special Brake Rotors for Germany?

Or can I use this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1873395040 or
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1872984053

I hope you can help me!?

Thank you verry much!

Danix

Hi Danix
LT1 Brakes are just not up to the task of multip[le stops from 240kmh
You have about three options here:
1. more aggressive pad and stock style rotors(this is a bandaide at best)

2. Upgrade to 98 and newer camarobrakes , this includes different spindles, bigger calipers, bigger pads and 11.8 inch rotors.

If you have 17 inch wheels you could upgrade to a 13 inch system. There is only one that I know of right now that will passs Tuev and that is the Movit setup.

Hi Roy,

I think about the Rotors (see links), and Carbon Metallic Pads. Because I don´t konw, if are the Rotors from USA are made for high speed on German Autobahn?

I have 16" Wheels, and I look for cheep way to change my Rotors and Pads.

So I have look into ebay.com and find the Rotors (front and rear) round about 200,- US$. And this is realy cheep.

Do you konw about the rotors, if they are made for Autobahn?

I drive only sometimes 240 km/h, because I drive, I must be sure about the rotors to make a good stop! (no crack and accident on 240 km/h!)

Here in Germany, you get on a US-Car-Shop for Germans one Rotor round about 160,- EURO and this is to much! Pads a little cheeper like the Rotors!

What are you using?

I have not heard of either brand for those rotors.
Chevrolet does make a replacement rotor and pads for the LT1 . It is under the Durastop Brand and it is way cheaper than the OEM parts.
There is also Powerstop and Powerslot rotors . Combine these with Hawk HPS Pads and you will have some solid confidence over your OEM setup.
Check out this complete deal for your car http://www.thunderracing.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=subcategory&subcategoryid=1006

As for my brakes, I run a hybrid GT3/GT2Porsche System made assembled by Movit Brakes.

Thank you Roy.

Because this set is expensier than the ebay.com rotors. I have heard about the Hawks Pads. This are the best! :)
Because can´t I take Rotors for 200,- US$ (front and rear) + Hawks Pads?

Are this not good?

What about the Eradispeed rotors? They look really nice and I think they are the same diamter as the stock (that is on a 98+ car).

What are Eradispeed rotors? How much are the price for this Rotors?

I look only for stock/like OEM Rotors.

What are you doing? Have all peoples only Brake Kits? Who buys like OEM Rotors? And which Rotors?

Are the iRotors from ebay.com not good?

The rotors you talk about from Ebay basically unknown . They may be good , they may be bad.

Eradispeeds are a little bit expensive , but are worth it , There are two meembers on this board running them with HPS pads. There names are Hawk (Bruce) and Firechicken (Chris).

To get back to your original question basically any Lt1 rotor will work but it is the brake pad composition that is more important than slots or crossdrilling .

Does anybody konw Raybestos Rotors or Rototech Rotors?

This are Rotors selling by German US-Car-Shops. Because direct in USA it is much more cheeper. Are this Rotors good? Know anybody about it?

Thank you Roy! :)

I know you have give me the best rotor/brake set producer.

Because I have only 300,- € to buy Rotors and Pads. No more money. I have buy to mutch things this year.

So I must only find a Online-Car-Shop in USA, which sells to Germany.

Danix, like Roy said... I have some $25 autozone rotors I bought from the states with Perfomance friction pads. They do not like repeated stops from 150+ Mph. But I will give them this...they have not cracked yet! If I am going 150 Mph and brake long to slow to say 50 they will fade... You are best off saving your money and get a 13" baer kit for $700. For the money you cant beat it. Or a cheaper route would be to do the LS1 conversion, then get eradispeed rotors eventually.

Jeff

Hm, I know the Bear Kit or other Kits, but this is mutch more. I have search the internet about the eradispeed rotors, and they come about 850,- US$. :(

@My96z: What do you think about the iROTORS from ebay.com? Are they also good like your autozone rotors or other OEM replacement Rotors for German Autobahn?

Hi Danix,
if you want brakes for the german Autobahn, go to the mov`it brakes!
I have the Porsche GT3 system since 1999 in my car and the difference is like day and night !!! Okay, these brakes are not cheap, but I think you must pay the price for really good brakes.
I think, if you not have the money today, wait `til you have it and then buy it ! I think, all the cheap ones makes you not happy.
Jens.

Hi Roy,

no. I have not buy the Rotors yet. Because my car make a winter time sleeping. So I have a little time to look. Also I must spend my money.

But I think I buy the Power Slot or Power Stop Rotors and Hawks Pads and new Brake Lines. So it will stop earlyer. I ask my good old friend. He konw where to get it cheep.

Thank you all for the help. I had first by only rotors (from ebay.com - slotted and drilled 99,- US$ pair). Now I think they are not good. It is important to have good pads. (Or!?) :)
