Well I took my 306 out and it broke the crank right at the counter weight on the #1 and #5 journal. That is the only damage I see so far. I believe my rods and piston are still ok. So i amgoing to throw in a forged crank and keep my 306 going till my 393 is done. I might change my cam to a blower one though. But other than the crank everything looks ok. I will take them in to get checked to make sure though. I wil try to get some pics soon.

oh yeah its upgrade time. And it is the form of a 393 stroker windsor. A lot better than those crate engines. I have to go with a dish piston for the supercharger. But even natural asperated it is still 460 horses. With the boost it will be well over 600 on the top end.

If I get to Bragg we will see what you got!!! The stang stomper will be sniffing some large amounts of crack in the states. BTW I already upgraded my pistons and rods

I bet you cant wait to see what she will do here. You wont have a traction problem here the trck is pretty sticky. Lots of rubber already laid down for you. I cant wait to see you line up against a twin turbo nitrous toyota supra. Some one needs to put him in his spot. I cant till I finish my stroker he is running low 10 right now. I am only running 11's. But I plan on being in the 10's by spring with the original 306 with a forged crank and main girdle.

This engine displaces 514 ci and goes for $8k. A 535hp 460 goes for $5,500. A 430hp 392 costs $6,200. These prices are from http://www.sdpc2000.com . For those with Mopars, they have a 450hp Viper engine for under $13k or you could get a 525hp 472ci Hemi for $11k.
The engine I would love to get for the '57 is a dyno-tested 900hp 555ci BBC for $14,500. :burnout: But then I'd have to replace everything else to handle the power... :pat:

I considered going with a big block but the amoount of work you have to do is astounding to get one of them in a fox body. I mean I would have to chamge so much of the my set up I would actually be losing out. With a 351 swap I can use a lot of my peformance mods I have now. My motor will be putting out more power than ford 392.

I remember reading in some of my old Hot Rod magazines from the late '80's/early '90's that a 460 would drop right in with minor work. Oh well, I know Camaros better than Mustangs... Good luck and have fun with your new powerplant!

The big block will fit but there is a few poblems that come in to affect like the power booster. If I was building a staight race car then I would but with a 351 bloch you reuse alot of you other items from your 302 . And i have a lot of money in that one already so it is a financial decision to go with a 393. By the way I got my forged assembly last night I will try to get pics.

Don't blame you one bit. Gotta love interchangeability. Something VW needs to learn about. '90 Golf 1.8L with 3 different starters that won't interchange.  :wtf:
BTW, don't matter if you have a small block or a big block, either way the 6-71 huffer will stick out of what is left of your hood...
