Garry,
I am looking for a winter project and have most of the ingredients to build a reasonably fast go-kart (similar to the Gixxer). Frame mods will be chromoly that is professionally TIG welded, so structurally it will be strong. Powered by a Yamaha R1 motor. Disk brakes front and rear.
Question is: will I be allowed to run at Bitburg?

Yeah, well if I wasn't headed back to the States in March, my hypothetical go-kart would kick both of your hypothetical go-karts!

I got to stay out of that - Silke has more insight into the working and thinking of the Airport people down there ... I know they do cart racing, both hobby and professional, there, but as for permission for a 1on1 event - no idea ...

Guess you can't wait to get your hands on something that huggs the curves on the AutoX even better than the Porsche ...

Well, I never intended to die peacefully in my sleep!
The only problem might be getting the power to the ground. But, I think it can be solved by mounting 4 wheels on the rear axle (a bit like a "duellie truck").

I've seen those gokarts. Either that, or some really W-I-D-E rear tires!

Get some Mini wheels. And a strong roll cage!

Duff idea on the Mini wheels. Don't need much of a rollbar either, the kart will only weigh about 140kg (300lb).

OK, the hypothetical cart has a real motor. I've committed to buying the R1 motor (nearly new with only 8700km).
Now the next big expense is a decent chassis and lots of rear tires.
Silke, how's the permission for 2005 coming along?

I requested the dates for 2005.
On the gokart: I wrote you an email.

At Race Wars and Speed Days it is allowed to run anything. Trust me.

Silke told me that the Bitburg bylaws (for the rental agreement) excludes a lot of things, specifically motorbikes (including pocketbikes). So that type of fun must unfortunately be practiced somewhere else.

Hm thats bad because i like the bitburg track .Oh well than i need to drive to racewars next year too so i can see what my pocket bike can do.But i think the 1/4mile is too long for a pocket bike anyway.
