I won some winter tires for my Formula but I could use some help completing the transaction.

Here is what I won:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 8001725911

I see it says something about VAT. Can I use a VAT exemption form for this?

I emailed the seller using a google translator and told him I have a new address and asked about VAT. This is how he responded:

Hallo nach Mannheim: Bitte richtige Adresse uns umgehend schreiben??. Unsere Kto.-Nr. 105351008 BLZ 64163225 VOBA Hohenzollern, Reifen-.. Bürkle 72501 Gammertingen mfg. Bü

Do I need to withdraw some Euros and go to a bank to transfer the money?

Do I just tell him that I sent the money or do I send some sort of note with the payment? I'm pretty clueless since I just got here to Germany.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

It seems the seller is a store, so maybe they'll take it -- anyway, you need to clear it with them as they will have to reduce the selling price by the 16% VAT ...

He needs your "correct address", and gave you his bank information in order to transfer the payment ...

Usually, the sellers will look at the money transfer and check the name and/or auction number ...

On the auction site it says that he will ship the tires as soon as the money is booked on his bank account, so simply transfer him the money.

I don´t know about the VAT thing, that´s a question for americans LOL

And in the message he simply askeds for your "correct" address and tells you his account number / bank code.

I could be wrong, but i think you need a bank account to transfer money...someone correct me please?

well, I tried to use the google translator to say "Do you accept VAT exemption?" The result didn't look right so I put back through the translator to english and it said "accept tank release" LOL!
How do I ask if they accept VAT exemption forms?
thanks again,
ken

he asked for my address because I told him my address was different from what ebay had listed since it was a USA address and I didn't want him to cancel the sale.

Probably something like "Akzeptieren Sie MWSt-Erstattungsformulare" ... not sure about the exact german translation, stores that have customers often that have them usually have the english info posted, not german ;)

I'm nowhere near a good german speaker...but I know enough...and if I need help then I know where to find it. I work on Funari...maybe you've seen my Black GTO runnning around.

Look me up sometime if you need help. I've been over here for 3 and a half years...know mannheim pretty good now.

The VAT form has to be signed and stamped by the seller, Unless your going to pick these tires up, I don't know how you would use the form. Additionally, if you live off base give them you home address, if you don't, then give them a friends address. Don't have them sent to an APO. APO is in New York, he would have to send them all the way to the states. The shipping cost would be very high.

Good luck, I have often thought about using ebay.de, but never have.

I'm having them shipped to my street address here in housing.
I guess I'm just gonna do the transfer and forget about the VAT.

SyGoat,
I'm sure I'll see you around. I work on Taylor.

can always do the VAT via the Post as well. You could agree on the price w/out tax....send him the money then he can wait till the VAT form arrives in the mail (couple of days), then send you the tires and form (White and pink parts) to you.

or wait to send the money until the VAT arrives to him.
