Quote: they got enough Z06 parts on there, why not just get a Vette?

I think if they're gonna call it ZL1, they should put an all aluminum big block in it. At least a 427. That's what the original '69 ZL1 was all about and it looked like a total sleeper.

The car was looking good until I got a front shot of it and seen the grill. I expect that to cost more than a Z06 . Since this is not being built by GM , but by a Car tuner wo has to buy the whole car first and then buy all the upgrade parts.

Just another tuner car IMO, it looks good, but except for the collectivity of it, it doesnt seem worth it. If it is anything like the SS, the parts will be double, ie Hurst shifter option was like $350 for a $180 mod. Not to mention that as a tuner car, production will be low, so price will be sky high. Probably online with the Intimadator SS 40K+ The new LS1 will undoubtly get the same styling, or something as unique being it is the last year of production so a prudent person would holdout for the ASA Holden intake , heads/cam of your choice for performance. IMHO If GM wants my money, they will release a real Z28 with a sky high winding 302, no chrome, no plastic dash plaques or Heritage strips, and let it go out in style like the LS6 Chevelle. A true 11 sec car on slicks. Damn this soapbox is getting wore out. Rob

A true 11 sec car on slicks. Don't expect anything like that from GM any time soon ... I don't think they will ever challenge the 'vette's performance with a "medium" price car ... how'd that look if a average guy could burn up a vette with a stock F-Body? Look at the motor & exhaust - look how much you can improve performance of the 350 with just minor, low cost mods ... if performance was GM's target, they'd have the SS' class of HP & torque in the Z/TA car, and SLP would top it off with another 20-30HP more ... Oh well.

Thats exactly my point Roy, its not so much that the vette has to be the 'uber' car in GM. The power you release in the F-body are just making it more like the vette. Less restrictive exhaust (the corvette is a true dual) and better air induction (although I think that is about on par now. Plus the under rating in power on the Fbody (I still dont fully except this ) is not because of Ford competion, but because of the corvette. Several groups have addressed this, and it is found that the differance in cam spec, intake or the like between the vette and Fbody is negligible. Just PCM and packaging differances. What this truly is about is bon voyage (until at least 2005 when you can buy a probe fighting fwd V6) The LS6 Chevelle is still considered one of the fastest musclecars of all time, not to many 70's vettes running faster. The Grand National, would destroy the corvette stock for stock and mod for mod. If your going to retire a car make only to bastardize it in a couple years, ala Impalla, Nova, Monte Carlo, atleast give it one last hurrah, and not some appearance package to call it special. There are, and have been several tuners (Mickey, Yenko, COPO, Hurst..) but it really makes it special when GM actually makes a kick ass car, instead of hopeing John Lingenfelter or the like will come along a do it for them. whew!!! that had to come out

One other quibble, the SS has no performance advantage in HP or torque over a normal Z28. On a LT1 car the intake tract only heatsoaks the air vs. a Z28 cold air (I know the Z28 needs a mod), but at $200 or less if you make it your better off. I have the dyno results somewhere, but there is a 3-5hp diff. The SS/WS.6 is mainly a handling package, and if you get T-tops or a conv you werent even eligible for the full treatment. (at least in the SS) its the exclusivity of owning a SS or WS.6 that makes it worth it, not the performance bump. I'm sure this may rub you owners of the big uns' the wrong way, so I apoligize if I offended you.

You have jokes I see. Just a little note my clutch has 63,000 on it. And that's not to bad since I was dragg racing every thursday at rockingham or fayettvill tracks. I'm really not to upset about it just gives me the chance to REPLACE!!! How's that cam swap going.
