I was heading home yesterday and traveleing along 656 when a black what I thought at first was an M5 was coming onto the highway. I sped up to make sure I was in front, he sped up to get some speed on the highway and got real close behind me. My wife was traveling behind me and saw the M6 logo on the car. At this point I had to put the hammer down and proceeded to smack 6600 rpm and the M6 did the same thing, however, I always was able to get a leap with my shifts and dug further each time, his car was relentness with no sign of upshifting, just pure acceleration, thanks to the SMGIII shift/tranny I am pretty sure. The guy felt pretty confident as this point that he would have a Corvette kill and put his left blinker on, well into accelerating up to 4th gear he was having diffculty hanging between 110-140MPH, I turned to him and waived hoping he would see me waving him to catch up since he was so impatient before and faiding behind me. The wife in her vette was way behind. We merged onto A6 and when we had an open stretch it was on again, I started leaving him at mid speeds 120-140mph, however, I was approaching my turn off at Veirnheim and was climbing at 160MPH plus, he was the same distance I had left him at mid speeds, telling me his car is very fast and not one to be taken lightly. I would have kept inching ahead if I would have stayed on, however, with 500 HP and almost a 4000 pound car, he was able to cruise at 160 also, pretty damn good car. In the end I was thinking, man these new M cars are getting faster than the old ones. Time for me to think about some other mods to ensure that I stay ahead of the factory racers.
It was a kill but anyone running against an M6 with less than 450HP in an non Z06 vette or Fbody, is in for a rude awakening. With my slightly modded Z06 vette at about 450Hp or so, it was still a challenge.

Nice run Nick! Wish you would've had some video footage but we can't be so lucky. I'm sure he'll think twice if he runs up on you again but on 2nd though he may have a surprise for you next time if he felt so confident the 1st time.

I guess when you have a long commute, the chances of running into something to run with get better.
I remember coming across this Silver SS Camaro once....and it was on...........
