Darn! So they (german inspectors) will fail you for not having them? I'm trying to get a most definate answer because if I have to have them I have to order a new torque arm because it wouldn't fit with the cat'd y pipe on.

NOPE! You do not need CATS....However, you have to pass the Db check of 95 Db at 1/2 redline. The cats would help with that.

chevroletfreak, thank you so much. I have the stock exhaust, so I'll just go have the db's checked. Thanks for the response.

Ok I'm confused:
My car is registered in nc and to pass emissions we must have cat's; So if I decide to not put these cats on and its time to ship my car over will it fail the inspection before it gets to germany? I've been told that they inspect it here in the states and if it fails here they won't ship it to germany. If it is true that it will be inspected for CATS before it goes to germany and they see my car is registered in nc will they fail me or let it go because they aren't checking for them? So basically if it is true that the car will get inspected before Germany will whoever inspects it, notice that it doesn't have cats and that I'm also registered in nc and fail me? Please help quickly!

Are you due for NC tags/registration?
I know of no other inspection that you would have prior to putting it on a ship. The only thing I can think of that you may be talking about is the inspection the shipping company does. They only inspect for existing damage and cleanliness to free them of any liability.

NO I'm good for this year, so no worries with that. I was just making sure the guys that check it before its put on this ship won't be looking for cats or anything like that. So basically I "could" take them off and not have any worries with the inspections other then the german db check?

http://rmv.hqusareur.army.mil/190-1/190-1.pdfThis dosent say anything about cats, but you are required by German law to have them. Toward the end of page 4, it talks about inspection requirements. You may get lucky and whoever is doing POV inspection might not notice them Within the next year we should be starting emmision test here on base according to my boss, the vehicle management superintendent here at Spangdahlem. We are already doing them on GOVs

Get Random Tech cats, they're small but they're great for high performance exhausts too. http://www.randomtechnology.com/

I dont have cats and I shipped from Ill. (sept 07) with LT's, open-y. Not to say that next year I wont need them to pass inspect but Chevrolttefreak and I are running pretty much the same setup.
I'm waiting for pacestter to make a hi-flow catted Y-pipe

Well I went ahead and got a TSP Y with SLP hi-flow cats, and I hate it! It drags or scrapes on anything and everything!
