3 Channel ABS is when the ABS sensing for the rear is done by just 1 sensor which works with that refluctor ring. So it just senses that the diff stops turning, wether that is caused by the left or right wheel is not possible to see.
This is the case on ALL cars without TCS/ASR

Cars with ASR/TCS have a sensor on each rear wheel just like on the fronts and the ABS can sense each particular wheel and see which one is locking up.

The problem with some after market rear ends is that most don't have a location for these sensors and making them yourself is too hard.
The 3 channel ABS only requires one hole in the diff and in combo with that refluctor ring you can make it work again (like most rear ABS system used on cars).

That's what i understand.

just spouting off here, but I dont think the key to the 3 vs. 4 channel abs is in the differance between a torsen and a auburn diff. But like Sergio says in the TCS/ASR/ brake system, and the sensor mounts on the rear end itself.

Yep, that's the difference. I have ASR. No sensor in the diff houseing, but 1 at each wheel.
