I need a new tie rod end, but I'll order that tonight.
I need an on/off switch for the foglights; where are auto parts stores in K-town?
The exhaust is too loud, 101db. I had some steel wool in the exhaust, but I don't think I can cram enough in there to pass inspection. I've been looking at bullet mufflers, but Dynomax only advertises a 2-4db change and the other brands seem too large. I already have low exhaust in the front and I don't want more problems. I'm debating a new muffler because of that.
Gary, do you still have the stock exhaust on the Hawk?
And finally, I need to remove the front window tint.
Oh well, I guess it could have been worse...

Man I failed with 103 db so I stuffed a bag of steel wool in each pipe and it got so quiet I didn't get a db test the second time. Good luck!!!

I emailed a few companies and Moroso says I could see about around a 7db decrease. It doesn't look too restricitive either.
I don't see how you can fit a whole bag in each pipe, seems like it would blow right out!

The More the better, it does the trick. I use Supetrapp so I can adjust the sound witht he disc as needed.

Yes the steel wool works . But you want the wool in there as loose as possible with out it blowing out . also be gentle on the gas pedal .

I was pretty gentle on the pedal, but the inspector jumped in the seat and blipped the throttle a few times before running it up. I crammed some wire mesh behind the wool to hold it in place, and it held but I didn't have that much wool in there.
Right now I'm thinking about adding a Moroso resonator. It's only 4" in diameter and should give enough db reduction. I'll probably add steel wool again, just to make sure.

You need to take your car somewhere other than the Ramstein area......

Try to find an Army base.
I know Schweinfurt is easy, my Goat passed.

I actually failed the inspection at Vogelweh, is the Ramstein shop the same?
I just got a Moroso spiral flow that I was going to add to the I-pipe, they're supposed to be low resistance but reduce the db by 7. I hate to add it, but I am tired of the "rifling" during deceleration, so maybe this will help...

The Vogelweh inspectors are a bunch of a$$holes. Ramstein isn't that bad.

I installed a silencer in the I-pipe and then stuffed a bunch of steel scrubby pads in there upstream of the silencer. It was so quiet, they didn't test me 2nd time through.
Plugging up one of the tailpipes makes a large reduction also.

Stock LS1 w/ Resonators = 96db - 1 over the limit (Mannheim allows 95 for whatever reason) So steal wool time.

Hm ... just noticed this weekend that at idle, my Firehawk (stock all the way through) is actually a bit louder than Roy's SS ... First time I was able to see Roy move his car without hearing it!
So I reckon it would most likely not pass the US inspection ...

You don't have the SLP Loudmouth installed, do you?
I have the spiral flow in teh I-pipe now. It still sounds Ok and it has taken care of the rifling, but I miss the more aggressive sound.
