hi
question: i want to change my tires, i have the orginal 16x8" alloy snow flake wheels with the 215/60/R16 94H good year GT-4 tires.
the new size must be 245/50/ZR16.
the brands i have found are:
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Cooper Zeon Sport A/S
Cooper Zeon 2XS
Goodyear Eagle F1
the michelin and Goodyear are good tires (goodyear to soft for street use), but has anyone some experience with these Cooper tires.
I read on some american sites, that Coopers Zeons are great.
i dont drive at winters, my Camaro is pure for fun.
thanks for the advice

Out of those tire you posted The Michelin and the Good year are the better brands. I have experience with the Good Year F1. Yes it is soft , but it sticks pretty damn good. 245 50 16 is an odd ball size for Europe. So it is hard to get good tires. Are you planning to buy online from the states or in Europe?

I can recommend the BFGoodrich KDW in that size, although they're not the quietest tires.

hi,
is there no one who has some experience with Cooper Zeon's, if i believe the reviews on some American tire sites, it must me great tires, with good grip.
My previous Camaro (1971) had Cooper Cobra tires, and they were not bad.
Cooper Tires is, if i am correct, one of the biggest factory's in tires.

Cooper tires are not bad tires. The tire company is not known for performance tires. Cooper tires are moderately priced for the masses who demand nothing special from a tire .

Just check the net, you'll probably find test results on quality of the tire (and others) ... one test I found about 4x4 tires didn't really turn out well for the tested Cooper tire, and in another test an SUV winter tire came in last (together with a summer tire), though that doesn't have to say anything about this size tire ...

Link works
But the customer subjectivity is a little thick.
Cooper tires are run of the mill tires for run of the mill cars. There is nothing wrong with the tire , but then there is really nothing good about it either.

hi,
okay, it's clear to me, the only options left are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or the Goodyear Eagle F1.
i will ask the local tire dealer if he can get one of those.
greetings Patrick

hi,
i have my camaro pure for fun (when i don't drive it, he stands in mine garage).
I go to work on my bicycle (5 km), and i don't drive at winters.
In the winter we drive with our other car (chevrolet Alero 2.4 aut).
my Camaro has run 33.000km, and i will drive it about 3.500km a year.
If i buy some decent tires (expensive), they will last long !!
The quality (grip, noise) is more important for me than the price.
greetings Patrick

GY F1s are high performance summer tires. PS A/S is an all-season tire. If you're not going to drive it in "all-seasons" why get an all season tire?
As for tire life, assuming you're not doing burnouts at every stoplight, you'll get several years out of any tire if you're only driving 3.500k/year

The tires I had on my Camaro lasted from 01 through 07 when I sold it, though I wouldn't like to drive it in the rain anymore ... d@mn close to being slicks

hi roy,
yes i am a member on the forum f-body.nl
also member on camarosource.ca and f-bodyhideout.com
and aleromod.com Chevrolet/Oldsmobile Alero.
i like to talk with people who have the same interest (American Cars)
i have/had several other American Cars:
my other car is a Chevrolet/Oldsmobile Alero.
Previous car: Chrysler Neon (very worse car).
Previous car: Chevrolet Corsica (nice car, drove it 6 years the american way).
Chevrolet Camaro 1971 (i fully restored it, drove it 7 years, and then sold it).
the reason i looked at the Michelin Pliot A/S is, i don't drive at winters, but i will drive it when it's wet and cold.
i think the Michelin is more a alround tire, correct me if i am wrong.
Patrick
