don't plan on being able to pull at all in 6th unless you've got 4.10s or some major engine mods. I've never done the math for a MN12, but with the MN6 from the redline in tth gear, i would drop to 3500rpm if I shifted to 6th and wouldn't even have enough torque to keep my speed up. Even the mighty Z would have trouble with that much air resistance. FWIW on a coupe in 5th Gear w/ stock size tires 6,000 rpm is 186.
If you go up past Spang. on A60 there are some good spots to open it up. I got 180 and held it for a min.

Hey Lancer, sweet car and nice pics on your site. I just have one thing to suggest to you- change the name of the blue BMW to an M5, not an M3.

I've been playin with top speed myself, I've had my 99 SS over 150mph in 5th and it had a good bit more, but I wanted to see what 6th would do. So I shifted to 6th and I couldn't even hold speed let alone pull in 6th. Bummer. Anyway, 5th is definately the right gear to be in on the Camaro SS, but I'm runnin 3.42s on an M6 and I wonder if actually going up to 4.10s might make 6th strong enough to pull through the wind and actually get my top speed up over 170mph. Anyone tried top speed with 4.10s out there?
Mods: Lid, K&N, Cat back (Flowmaster), FRAM, Pro 5.0

You'll pull in 6th w/ 4.10's easy. Matter of fact kiss your overdrive gear goodbye doing so. Gears are excellent IMO for stateside driving since you can't blast your way down the highway like you can here on the autobahn. I'd keep your 3.42's and work on the engine and maximize your pwr there to get up to the 170 range.
I'm going to miss this place and my 185mph blasts on A5/ A67. Hopefully winter is short so I can get one more run and video taped to prove to the naysayers by in the US.
