Whats needed to remove the PCM in 2001 Bird?

I need to take it out to order another.

I just need techniques, what to watch for and what tools...car is at dealer, so its not in front of me and google is not being too friendly.

I am not too familiar with a V6. Just make sure you disconnect the negative on the battery.

NX,

What might I do if I don't? Fry it ;) LOL I will do, I always do when working with the electrical/electronics.

Its already dead.

When you ordered from Texas Speed, how long did it take - did you have to send in your old one?

You are correct, disconnect the negitive on the battery, 7mm remove the bolts on the harness, 10mm to remove the 2 bolts on the plastic carrier and pull out carefully.

No, just don't want to see you fry your harness. Plus I didn't have much to add to this so I just wanted to say something. :D

TSP shipped me one of their computers reprogrammed with all my mods in mind and my VIN. Then I just mailed mine to them once I got the new one. It did take about a month of calls before they actually did it. They were short handed and kept forgetting to mail it. Just talk to Jason and tell him your situation. Tell him that either Don or Bruce refered you. No, I will not get a discount out of this. They usually don't send out ECMs in advance. They just wait and program yours. I told him I knew Bruce and he said no problem. Hope this helps.

well i got offered a stock PCM from a year 2000 for 100$ shipped. It should work, just I have to tell tech II its a year 2000...

I cant send mine to Texas Speed cause its dead. They would probably send me a note saying they cant do nothing.

I'm just in a bind, need something fast....was hoping to maybe kill 2 birds with one stone....since the dealer wants 290 euros and 3 weeks for delivery.

I'm awaiting confirmation....since a power programmer will work on 2000-2002, I'm sure it will, but I will wait for a pure answer.

I think the only difference is with Tech II or a tuner *software* you will have to tell it, its a 2000.

Someone mentioned there are very few, but minor differences between the 2000 and 2001 - something in the line of coolant sensor ?? something...

But if I can get a tuned PCM fast, then I wont have a problem...

intense-racing.com does not lock there edit values, so I can modify the PCM whenever I want. But, in a timely matter is what I'm looking for.

ordering a semi-tuned PCM from intense racing, as Texas Speed requires your PCM to be sent and tuned, as they dont have them in stock...intenses PCM is "unlocked" and can be reprogrammed...cost about 220$ but 100$ for the core, which I will send them...so 120 for a new pcm is not bad, that will be adjusted for my 180 thermo and 3 degrees tuned - plus wont need flashing at the dealer (50+ euro) and will have my VIN already on it

BTW, that PCM from a 2000 would have worked. its the same part and OEM number for both years...all that would be needed is a flash from a dealer.

Neither was mine when I took it to a dealer when I was in the states but I remember one of the service managers showing me what was warrentied (spelling) outside the norm. I could have sworn the PCM is a 5 or 7 year thing. I may be way off but something to look into at the least.

hmmmm,

well I took mine to the Opel dealer....and they wanted 290 euros.

I will ask some more people, then maybe I can have a spare one for backup....because the original is fried, but I'm an electronics technician and I can desolder the FLASH chip from the circuit board, and solder in a chip socket - that way if you fry it you can just replace the FLASH chip in and out - and the chips are like 5$
