Does anyone out there know what horsepower/torque a stock 700R4 can handle??
Just got my upgrades..heard my engine on the phone from Georgia...OMG!!!! Its going to rock. Desktop Dyno is showing right around 400-410hp and 420torque...depending on the cam of course.
I want a new tranny eventually, and a new rear end with posi since I didnt have that initially. But dont want to shell out the dough just yet...so I want to know what it can handle and how far I can push it before I am forced to buy one.
Thanks,
Patrick

I think more important is the TV adjustment. I've seen the 700r4 behind 700ps rigs. So it can be built to work. But if the TV adjustment is off . A chevette will smoke it.

Also, was it a stock 700r4 you were talking about?? I have been looking at some modded, heavy duty ones, online before I decide which way to go with it.
Thanks,
Patrick

Roy, thanks for that web site. I'm getting ready to put a 700 trans in my 69. And after reading the info on that site I'll probably go ahead and replace my 4.10 posi with the 3.08 posi I got.

I hate this site sometimes. I can't get pictures up and it locks up alot on me. Must be my 56K modem.

It would take some work It's originally out of a 81 TA.
It's now in my 69 Camaro.
I had to cut off the mounts and put the 69's on it.
Your 89, I think has coil springs. You'd have to strip it down and weld it to fit yours.

Thats a bit much for me to try to do. But I got a good offer for one that I could pick up when I am back in the states, could get it all installed for about $175 from a 93 Z28. Not sure which ratio it has, but Posi is something I want. Also gotta figure this Tranny thing out...which way I want to go with it. Stay with 700R4 or try something different...anyone got any suggestions???
Thanks again,
Patrick
