Talking rears here. Not really in the mood to drop 2K on a 12 or 9" but it looks like it may have to come to that. My current situation is this 3.23 and auburn diff...sitting in the garage are some gears and I'm contemplating getting the T2R to compliment it possibly w/ 40 spline axles.

Reason I'm thinkin the latter is basically I really don't drag and I'll never put meats on the rear if I did drag. More or less a occassional driven car and cruises as well as tracking the car. I know Val and Roy would say go 9" :D but I want to keep my CFDS in the process and I don't think you can w/ a 9 or a 12" if I'm not mistaken.

So your thoughts?

Another dumb question...

What is CFDS?

My opinion, the wifey just made Master. Spend that money. What if you don't get a 12 bolt or 9in. Something might go wrong. I hate doing things twice!

Just me though

40 spline is wAY TO BIG and heavy for what you and we do and your torque rating. Jon you would be hard pressed to bust a set of 31 plines . you would break a ring gear or pinion first.

Just get another CF ds to match you old one except a hair shorter . sell your old one and recoup some loss.

Roy / Val I pulled the 3rd member last night she is howling. Gears bearings all look good guessing it is the back lash/ slop between the gears looks like I should be able to adjust it can you elaborate looks like th ring gear need to go right slightly depth looks good. Ther is some fine metal stuck to the magnet but not excesive.

What do your shims look like? If their grinding down that would make some backlash.

Roy that was a typo. I meant 28 spline or 31. Yeah I recoup the loss of the DS since I paid 1/2 for it and I'd selll for that exact amount but I don't know. I like Jack's theory better at the moment "ain't broke don't fix it" besides if I do wind up breaking it I can always throw my 3.23's back in there as back up.

Just don't feel like coughin up 400 bones for another custom made DS. Believe me when I tell you it's worth the 800 for a new one when compared to 1LE's, Lingenfelter, TPIS, and Denny's. BIG difference. I've had them all as well.

Think I'll just scrap up the money and get the T2R since Sam said he has em' in stock. 500 bucks for a diff is alot but EVERYONE praises that thing.

Thanks guys.

Is there a warranty on that DS John? I have a warranty against twisting and weld breakage with my IE DS.

Well since I bought it used I don't think so. Thing is guaranteed to hold 1500lb tq before letting go. I doubt that I'll ever get there w/ that number.

I agree with Jack. Don't spend money on smth you don't really need right now, especially when you don't drag...! ;)

Well it looks like I'll just stick w/ what I've got and beef up the axles if I can find a good price for a pair. The T2R is mine! woha "evil laugh. Ordering it tonight!

AAFES didn't have no more RP though! Guess I'll buy Redline instead.

I know- THEY SUCK. Why did they even bother selling what little they did sell. It was obviously popular. Some people just don't know how to run a business and make money. They could be making so much more. Buy what the people want! Is that a difficult concept?

It's a differential mainly for us road and auto x guys. Best thing on the market for 10 bolt. Hella costly though and almost unbreakable. I'll still have my old auburn and gears in case these puke on me. Just not really in the mood to dump 2K.

But if you can have a seemingly bulletproof 10 bolt- why not? Just weld the axle tubes, and switch to some mosers! ;)
