What's a good way to go? Steel, aluminuim, or card board?

Billet aluminum is the strongest thing out there. ;) Check with Fidanza- they make flywheels.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, not on this site too. I've been reading about steel vs aluminum on the mustang board for like a month now.

Seriously though Jason, there's some good info over there on this.

Jason,
I've read all the write ups on the Aluim VS Steel and so on. Depending on your application (straight drag, auto-x, road racing.etc each has it's advantages. I went with the Fidanza and won't ever go back. It took me about a week to get used to it. I will tell you that it does let the car rev up faster, other than that You wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Knowing that I was going to be using it for all around (racing) I figured it was MY best bet and yes it was worth every cent for it. Keep in mind what might be good for a LS1/LT1 might not be good for a Mustang. Do your research and keep in mind what you want to do with the car.

Daddy since you drop trannys on a regular get both and see which one you like best. :D For people that say you have to rev it higher to get off the line w/ a aluminum fly is bogus...at least in my application. I don't have a problem boggin off the line. To me you seem more of a driver than a 1/4 guy so it would better suit you w/ the alum vs the steel. Either way you can't go wrong but you'll pay more for the alum of course.

I've got both and I may swap to steel if we have to go back to the states in May/June. Since street driving and very little track time will be available to me esp if I'm up in the dakota's seems more logical.

Ok, to sum it all up real quick, basically the aluminum flywheel has less inertia than a steel one. So, when starting from a stop, the aluminum will have more of a tendency to bog. (if you rev it higher or have enough torque this is not a prob) The aluminum will rev faster, but your RPMs will also drop faster between shifts, possibly bringing you out of your engine's powerband. The aluminum will not necessarily hit as hard when shifting (less inertia). It seems that typically road racers, auto X, etc use the aluminum more. For drag racing you see more steel, with the exception of very high powered cars. Hope this helps. If you know any physics (yes, think back to high school) it will help you to understand the pro's and cons.
