Anybody know of any reputable welders? I sprung a leak.
My oil drain plug threads are shot so I have some nice leak action going on. I've got a bung I want welded right on top of the drain plug so I can use my oil temp sensor finally and be the drain plug as well.

I think the local populace will tell me "you need special part or new oil pan" so if ya know a American (no offense to the Germans) that welds let me know.

Thanks.

Silas that is a easy weld, but the only problem is the petroleum residue that is left in the pan when welding if it is still on the engine. You get a phenomanon called flashover . Once the super heated gases get oxygen , then bang. If you take the time and have a quench bottle handy or wet rag then no problem.

Damn nothing ever comes easy does it? LOL! Now I really got to find someone willing to do this. What I was gonna do was stick a rag in the drain hole completely inside the oil pan to eliminate any potential problems.

Too bad nobody makes house calls. I'm still on jackstands til the end of June the earliest.

What 's the status on your car Roy?

I once witnessed a drain plug getting welded. No flashovers or explosions, but you will not believe how much smoke can pour out of every opening once you start to burn the left-over oil/sludge in the pan.

That happens alot with the smoke. I was watching a guy weld a plug assembly on a old beater camaro . It caught fire so he attempted to blow it out. Well that was enough to make that new bung hole a booster venturi for a atlas rocket. It must of shot a 18 inch long blue flameout of there. It caught the guy right square on the cheek of the face. 3rd degree burns.
