What is the difference between the 700r4 and the 4L60E. And can I swap the two with minor adjustments. If any one Knows if this will work please let me know. Gotta get this damn car on the road.

What type of car is this going into. The 4l60e is basically a 700r4 that is converted to electronic shift. The 4l60e requires a stand alone computer to function. If your car was ever offered with a 4l60e then you can install the tranny and have your factory computer reprogrammed for it. The parameters are in your computer but just disabled. The dementions are the same between the two. Alot of the internal parts are interchangeable. Also, the 4l60e has the electronic speedometer output where the 700r4 is the cable style.

There are now stand alone boxes now for the 4l60e. These are plug and play with the option of being able to tune for your particular needs. TCI makes a tranny control unit for the 4l60e.

Are you in need of a LS1 style 4L60E? I am thinking about selling mine and it only has 23K on it.

I have a 92 Camaro w/ a 700r4 but it took a crap on me and I am trying desperatly to find a way to get my car back on the road. I was just wondering if it would work and what all needs to be done to make it work. I would much rather put another 700r4 in it but they are harder than hell to find over here for a reasonable price. I don't have $1000.00 just to go blow. Any help would be great. Thanks..

I put a second gear servo in it and after that it would not shift right. It had a nice 1-2 shift but when it shifted to 3rd the rpms woukld red line. It felt like I had just put it in nuetral and slammed on the gas. Now if I try to drive it it just wont shift out of first. I put the stock servo back in and it is doing the same thing. I have no fricken idea what the hell the problem is. If you have any ideas please let me know.

This is a reply I got back on the LS1 Tech site. I hope this helps you out.
When it did the 1-2 shift, were you WOT? Its common for the Throttle Valve to hang up in the valvebody, causing very late/firm or even no shifts, and I have seen them do it right after being worked on, or just out of the blue.
If you have a pressure gauge, install it on the transmission, and see if pressure is maxed out.
You could try and re-adjust the TV Cable and see if that helps, and I have also gotten it to free up by pulling on the cable all the way with the car running. A permanent fix is the TransGo kit, it has a revised Throttle Valve to prevent it from happening again.

It wasn't wide open. If it was wide open it would not shift untill I let up off of it. If I just pressed on the gas moderatly hard it would shift ok untill third then would do nothing.

Try what I wrote in my previous reply. This may work. I got the response from a reputable transmission shop in the states that deal with the 700R4.
