Maybe someone here knows the answer. I need a new battery and thought about trying a lightweight battery. When I look at this picture... http://www.injuneer.com/images/photos/Engine/Braille.jpg...I see some sort of "battery terminal adapters". But how exactly are they called and where can I get those?

Ben You may have problems with that battery with a heat soaked car or in 0 degree weather. Check out this link from EDO USARule of thumb is two CCA per cubic inch. Also remember the lighter the battery the less amp hours you have. This will equate to how fast the battery will discharge when using accessories with engine off.

I picked up a set of adapters to be able to use a standard European battery in my car in a pinch ... ran something like 5-10€ or so at M&F's ...

Garry: Thanks, found it.
Roy: Yeah I know those batteries have their drawbacks. I'm not sure... It's between 5 and 8 kg that I lose in the front of the car in a quite high position. Question is if I will ever "feel" that. Do you have experience with those (or similar) batteries from a driving dynamics point of view?

Keep in mind injuneer's car I believe is a track baby... he's pushing over 800 hp, and 1000 tq... (300 shot of nos tho I think) I know he's voiced his complaints about the Red-Top not being able to withstand long periods of inactivity.

From a driving dynamics no, but then a a LS1 Fbody is pretty balance from side to side and cross corner. Front to rear weight split is 56%/44%. So it is not to bad off.

If you're really concerned about weight and handling, then move it to the trunk; It's not that hard. You'll need an Optima unless you vent it outside somehow.
