I had an SES light from the time I bought my car so paid £70 for a diagnostic. They said it was the EGR valve. I forked out £150 for a new one dreading the possibility that the light would stay on. I reset the PCM and it hasn't come on since. I guess those diagnostics really do work! It's weird not having that light as a constant companion.

glad you took care of the 'ol SES light, but that 150 (cant do the pound thingy) would have went a long way towards a LS1 ScanMaster ($320), or other diagnostic scanners. Then your not at mercy of GM's flat rate robbery.
