99-2000 Camaro,Firebird,Corvette w/ vin G or S engine.Subject:High oil consuption may be caused by faulty piston rings .Oil consumption may be one quart in 400 to 600 miles. The problem is found more often in cars w/ manuel transmissions where the engine is more likely to spend more time at higher rpm.New piston rings from kit #88894299 should be installed, but not the whole set.Install only the number 2 compression ring .Leave the the original number 1 compression ring and the oil ring rails on the pistons.Do not dress or hone the cylinder bore.Changing the original bore finish may make the problem worse.Bulletin 01-06-01-023.

Doesn't sound like a solution to me. It will probably have more wrong with it after they're done with it than before.

Especially over here, with Hans and Frans!! No offense to the Germans on the board, but they still have a lot to learn about these engines!! :)

Here's the soloution get an LT1 engine... take out the oil burning LS1 nad install the LT1 for a greater motoring experiance! (Just kidding.... it does suck that the re-call came out over here... due to the fact that whenever I bring my car in for recalls they come out worse than when they went in!!!!!)
