I was changing out my airfilter this afternoon, and noticed the rubber oval duct, that runs from my airbox to my MAF, has rips in it! Right at the point where the metal clamp attaches it to the airbox. This is a potential problem area for anyone with a 4th Gen. LS1 F-bod that was shipped with the SLP 335 or 345HP packages. (Blackwing Airbox)

So just got off the phone with Mike at Stealth Performance, ordered a new lid, that does not require that damn Oval to round duct shiat! While I was at it, I ordered a new 85mm MAF, and a 160 thermostat.

Guess I won't be driving for a couple weeks, better safe than sorry.

I sincerely doubt that any harm would come from the rips... A Baker Hose type thing would also be cool with your new lid to get rid of the accordian style one that goes from MAF to TB. :)

Oh yeah... SLP sucks the big one.

HAHA! Yeah, it was a busy night, indeed! :D

RTZ... is there anything over there equivalent to Home Depot? If so, you can pick up all the necessary parts and fab one yourself. :)

It might look ghetto as hell, but duct tape would work wonders until you are able to get the new part..

I was going to go the ghetto route, but the roll of duct tape I have must have got too much heat cause it won't stick for shiat. Hopefully my new parts will get here soon!!!

RTZSS - let us know what difference the bigger MAF makes.

Mike is a really great guy to deal with - very reliable.

Well, I got the new parts put in except for the thermostat. After I connected the battery and started the engine, I almost shiat my pants! I had forgotten about the computer having to learn about the 85mm MAF! She tried to die on me and would not idle right for about 20 seconds. After that, she was back to herself  Took her for a spin, lets just say Rat likes!!!

My GMMG exhaust should be here in a few weeks! :D

So did the 85mm MAF make a big difference or are we talking SOTP? While I'm buying out T.Byrne's wheel stock, might as well make it a BIG shop!

You will love the GMMG man! You've probably already heard it, but as far as I'm concerned, it is bar none the best sounding exhaust out for the LS1 right now.. I used to think it was the Corsa, but after having both, I can definitely say which sounds better..

Maybe it's just me but, I think the car runs better with the 85mm. Seems to accelerate better...

Jack, I am really looking forward to getting the exhaust! Hopefully it wont piss off the neighbors too bad in the morning! :D

Until you get headers, or cam-cam/heads combo, it won't be too bad.. Don't get me wrong, at WOT, it's AWESOME, but at idle it's not too loud at all. ;)

How's your A/F with it? I know that when I tried the SLP 85mm MAF my car ran so rich it produced a cloud of black smoke out the back to rival Batman...lol

I have not noticed any smoke at idle. If there is any at WOT, I sure as hell am not seeing it!
