You have to show me first, when you're back. I don't dare accelerating to that speed. :P

Hi John,
I got only the front brakes from Movit (not sure at the moment whether 330mm or 322mm rotor diameter), the rear are stock, but that is fine.
What do you mean by location? I could give you a stupid answer like "behind the front wheels", but this will be no help for you.
Send me a private message with your email address and I will mail a picture to you!

Including installation and TUEV approval I paid around 3400EUR.
And YES, that is expensive! I normally do not spend so much on a car in 3 years.

I think John meant where the Movit company is located.

Here is their address and further info.

No need to go to Movit, they must have plenty of authorized garages all over Germany to install the kits. A garage in my town has done it.
I found Movit advertisements on their desk just by coincidence.

I had seen Movit adds in the car mags even before I bought the Z28 and somehow I knew at that point already that I would need to get in touch with them.

I have put some pics on the net:

Let me know if it aint work!

Hi Ben,
where did you buy these "Brembo Replacement Rotors", for $85??
Initially I was also looking for some better rotors with OE size, but the shops in Germany could not help.
Than the GM dealer gave me some "Heavy Duty" rotors, which I cannot judge, because the HD pads he gave me where melting away, leaving some liquid tar on the wheels (after 5000km they were all replaced by Movits).

If nobody can tell the difference, these "Brembo Replacement Rotors" would be a cost efficient alternative for all people strangled by TUEV.

Gunnar:

I bought them at Stranoparts as well as the pads (Hawk HPS/HP+).

Wow, that's like $4000. I'd rather pay $3000 and get the Brembos. It would have been nice to do while the Deutsche Mark was still in use! :(

I did some research on brake rotors and here are the results:

Brembo blank rotors OEM size go for $87 (front) and $78 (rear)
here:

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brakes.j ... ment+Rotor

I've contacted MOVIT today:

The 322x32mm 4 piston kit is now on special....The Kit costs 2484 Euros VAT included. Installation is 250 Euros and TÜV 150 Euros.
BTW the pads that come with them have a friction coefficient of 0.42 according to MOVIT, however they have race pads that have 0.63

Further they told me that installation under 16'' oem wheels is no problem by using 25mm wheel spacers on each wheel. :)

I also got a quote for the 304 x 32 mm MOVIT rotors only. The cost is just 204 Euros per rotor only!!! :D
So I think these rotors combined with HPS pads would be a cost effective alternative for me.

Any comments? thx

That sounds interesting, I never thought about buying only the MOVIT rotors... if you do it, tell us if it works well. :)

Hi LS1,
I think it is only a mediocre solution to keep the OE calipers with that Movit 304mm rotors (BTW 204EUR per rotor is not exactly cheap, but okay: Movits are no bargain anyway).
The mechanic who installed the Movits on my car was shocked when he saw the OE calipers. I am not a car mechanic, but he explained that the Movit calipers are milled out of one block and therefore much stronger than the OEs.
Not sure about the wheel spacers on the front wheels. Make sure you have enough space left in the wheel archs! The car is lowered, isn't it?
With sheet metal wings I would see no problem widening them.
But I am not about the plastic wings.

Gunnar thanks for your informative inputs. As you already mentioned there is no doubt that the calipers made by movit are much stronger than the oem calipers on the camaro. I have wheel spacers, 30mm per wheel fronts and 35mm per wheel rear and my car is not lowered, just stock height ride with Bilstein HD's. I do agree with you that the complete 322mm kit with movit calipers will be the best bang for the buck. But I think that if I just keep the brakes stock for now and my rotors will have to be replaced sometime, I would take the 304mm movit rotors instead of the oem rotors. I will keep you all posted. :)

LS1 Better check again on the 304mm . Imay be mistaken but there only 28 mm wide. your stock rotors are wider . This will cause a pad problem .
Plus I still don't think the 304 mm will mate up correctly to you r stock caliper.

Roy thanks for your advise. The thickness of the rotors are for sure 32mm. This is what they mailed me (sorry it's german):

Sg. Hr. Fazeli!

unser Rennbelag PRO 0,63

Die Bremsscheiben 304x32 kosten mit Topf EUR 204,-- / Stk.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Markus Müller

Competence Tuning IT GmbH.

You are probably right about the calipers maybe they will not fit the 304mm rotors. So I'm going to check it for 100% before ordering them.

:)
