All, While driving my 98 Trans-am it will run, idle drive fine under 30 mph, when i start driving above that and i accelerate the engine seems to bog down...then it will smooth out then bog down again. This happenso and off while driving, but starts and idles fine.
Was thinking fuel pump but its fairly new 1 yr old, also the same with the fuel filter. I bought new plugs and wires. This did not happen until i installed my 3200 stall converter and level 2 transmission..... Any ideas....

Any "check engine" light or such? Did you put a OBDII device on and get some info?

Catalytic converter filter element is probably crumbling. The 95 Z28 i had did the same thing... the computer was constantly trying to adjust the fuel air ratio. Idled no problem, light pedal no problem, mid pedal....problem! I would pull your exhaust and check it. I was getting passed by Renault Twingos going up hill.

A guy I worked with had a 98 TA that he installed a torque converter, I forget what stall, but around 3k. I believe he had the same kind of problem, though not exact, I think his wouldn't down shift while accelerating and a few other strange things. He had to have his computer reflashed.
He's a member on Euromuscle if you want to contact him, his user name is joshGrooms.

Check your MAF if something has gone into your MAF-housing. Do you have a descreened MAF? You can unplug the MAF-Sensor to see if your problem disappears. However, by unplugging the MAF a code/MIL-light is being set.

THE MAF is ported, has been since i owned the car.....I am thinking it may be a tune issue, as it began after the transmission and 3200 stall converter install

A ported MAF is not a good idea for automatic cars since it can add line pressure into the tranny. What brand converter and tranny are you running? Do you know if your tranny is vacuum modulated?
Do you have HPtuners? If so you can send me your tune and I will modify the tune for your new converter. In case you have no access to HPtuners you could also ship me your PCM for a new calibration.

A stock tune with a stall will not bog the motor. I ran a TCI 3500 stall without a tune. Worked fine. Check the air inlet between the MAF and Throttle body. When you removed the tranny to change the stall, the motor could have tilted far back enough to separate it. Sounds like air in getting into the motor down stream from the MAF. Also, ensure you didn't pinch any of the wiring harness between the tranny and engine block.

I replied to your other post. Also, my HP tuning software will not read a 98 PCM. Only 99-02.

EFIlive does 98, too ... doesn't even take a PCM license to do so ... if you should be in Bitburg in two weeks, we could hook up and take a look ...
