I bought a black 1998 Z28 recently which was originally from Germany. I wanted a red one but they all seemed to be black. However, I paid a low price for an LS1. It's an A4 with 2.73 gears and goes like stink. Surprisingly few rattles and only a little wind noise. I did the EGR mod and it certainly seems to make a difference though they say it doesn't. I've had a few niggling faults like a duff EGR valve and wipers which sometimes don't want to work. The overpriced dealer in Bristol (you know who you are) said it wanted a new wiper motor but I think it's to do with the batch of 4 fuses by the motor which were all taped up. The car also had a very sneaky rounded off wheel nut which took me 6 hours with a Dremel cutter to remove without destroying the chrome wheels. I'm planning to take it to the track later in the year. Planned mods are a K&N Fuel Injection Kit, some sort of programmer, probably the Superchips Microtuner and a stainless steel exhaust. The standard exhaust is appallingly designed.Has anyone dynoed a standard Euro spec Z28. You'll all know that Chevy have consistently lied about the power output of the LS1 in the Camaro so a dyno would be interesting reading. I love the car but it's too quiet. I also don't trust it's high speed handling (above 120mph) so new springs and shocks are on the menu at some point too. :chevy

Cool. Congrats on the buy. I have a 2001 Black Z28. I know what you mean by the exhaust. I had the American spec exhaust and thought it was too quiet. Never mind the V6 exhaust on it.
For mods, you will find most people go with a lid and K&N or holley powershot filter. Not many people with the K&N FIPK. You can also do the Free Ram Air mod and then get the Fast Toys Ram Air. I have it and it's deffinitly worth it.
It's not high speed you need to worry about, it's all the nice twist welsh hills. But not really the car you want to take road rallying.
For high speed and twist driving, put the 275/40 17 tires, lower it, and better LCA's adn sway bars, Depending on what you are planning to do with the car. You can go all out like ZBLKHELLRZR. He has one of the best suspension setup's I have seen. But some people may think it's a little too much and harsh. Just do it bit at time. I have done alot to my suspension and it's considerably better at high speed. It actaully is relativly stable. Still want to do more.
I have the hypertech programmer. I mainly got it to reset the fan temps, rev limiter and speed limiter. I didn't like the 162 speed limiter. I wanted to know what my car would do.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Welcome! Where are you located?
So far, my suspension setup has been amazing. I have mis-matched stuff, but it's really all the same. BMR has great products at great prices.. You can also check Ebay. That's where I've gotten some of my stuff.
Next in order are some shocks, and brakes, then I will be complete, as far as suspension/handling goes.

I've read lots about the lid and FTRA kit but precious little about the actual gains. The reason I currently favour the FIPK is that K&N claim a 20bhp gain at the rear wheels with the C5 kit. On the "Crank & Chrome" website, a standard C5 gained 21 RWHP and the Superchip Microtuner added another 10. I note K&N only claim an extra 13 or 15 (I think) for the Camaro and there seems little reason to doubt it given the C5 dynoed result. It also seems to remove the enormous bulk of the airbox altogether.
One question I do have is whether there are any suppliers of performance parts in Europe as I keep getting stung not only with postage and packing but also with import taxes whenever I import from the States.

I'm based in South Wales, UK but the car came from Germany. I'll have to check who had it first, I think it's some guy called Volker Sprenger but I'll check that. Someone may know him!!! Hey Jack, just checked out the picture. Isn't that taking a cold air intake to extremes?

http://www.installuniversity.com has a nice little write-up on the FTRA.
For shipping maybe get with one of the military guys at Lakenheath and maybe they can have it shipped to them and then forward it onto you through the Royal Mail. It wuld help on shipping and eliminate the tax.
I haven't heard much about the FIPK on the F-bodies. Most everyone I know or have heard of went with a lid and the FRA.
Don't know the Cardif area that well. I know the Border with Shropshire pretty well though.

Hi LuS1fer
Good to hear another Z28 in the UK.
I have a 99 Euro spec Z28 with a Irmscher exhaust. Basically its a 2" pipe after the Y piece with a straight thro bx at the back and 2" chrome tip out the rear. Sounds awesome.
I am planning on suspension mods in the next month or 2. First stage is new Eibach Pro Kit spings, STB, LCA and bracket, sway bars and PHR.
I have a spreadsheet with costs and different makes. Send me you email and I will forward for your interest.
Second stage on the suspension will be shocks.
Please let me know about shipping costs. Perhaps we could share the price.
Give us a shout, we can discuss.

The picture of your car under all that snow. I've heard of icing the intakes but the whole car!
