Okay. I have a 2000 Z28 with LS1. I haven't had it in a long time. The wife had it back in US then had to wait on shipping. Previously the P/S resivoir has leaked, and the pump has gone out. Both happened under warranty. Both times they took out the alternator. Now the pressure hose is leaking. I checked the Chevy dealer down the road, they want 119 euro plus tax (19%) . I guess I'll just order it online. I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems. Hopefully someone knows of an upgrade. Maybe an Fbody shop that can fabricate one and ship it.

Whatever you do, don't disconnect it, we've had a well-known member break his steering wheel before

Get an under drive crank pulley for it. It should help. Blowing power steering hoses on the LS1 F-bodies happens alot. The motor just likes to rev too much. :D

Any good way to find one near me? I'll try asking around at work. Maybe some of the mechanics know of one, but I doubt it.

You will probably have to order it from the states. I usually us Summit Racing if I need something in less than two weeks. I ordered a muffler once on a Saturday and it was in by Friday. I did have to pay extra for the air mail. Summit sells the SLP underdrive pulley. Make sure you order the belt with it also. Hope this helps out.

An alternative would be the Turn One PS pump:

However $277...

Val:
Also take a look at the "Billet Aluminum PS pump pulley" :)
http://www.lingenfelter.com/store/p11.html

I've been thinking about that TO pump for some time... one the one hand I don't like paying ~ $300 when my stock pump is still working.

On the other hand IF it's going to break (pump or hoses) and all the fluid touches the alternator then the alternator will probably break down & I've got to replace it, too. :?

Ben, sometimes it's better to replace it before it breaks...

Ben-
I've already scrapped two pumps, one resevoir, three hoses, and two alternators. Thank god the "warranty" work was done at the dealer where I wroked. They overlooked what some might call abuse or racing.

I'm going to do something. It's out of warranty and I don't want to keep racking up the $$$. What's the saying? "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" or should that be gram and kilogram?

-Shawn

Ps Thanks for hyperlinks. I'll let you know what I buy and how it does.

I could still use help getting nice hoses, maybe stainless braid. Can't seem to find anything local. Anyone know an Fbody custom place that'll ship here fast? I'll try to find something local again this afternoon.

I still think the underdrive pulley would help you out alot and even free up some horsepower.

Mine tried crapping out on me at Hockenheim earlier this yr. So a Turn1 is on order. Val make sure you get the pulley installed before they ship it. Trust me. Ordered mine directly from Turn1 @ 225.00 :D
But I'm a ole' LT1 too. :P

Maybe it was the street racing and the NOS. A couple 15lb bottles and 170+ was a good weekend.I grenaded a tranny, cracked the diff housing, twisted an axle and munched the gears. All at different times. I thought I'd got her back to normal. I guess not. Probably still a few bugs left.

I still have work orders from most of the repairs. I had nothing better to do on my weekends. I did a lot of stupid & dangerous stuff because I didn't care. No longer have the time and $$ to play like that. Later I'll post some of my old parts off my Gen III's. Believe what you will.
