 Post subject: Help me mod my Vette

Weel i have a 1999 Corvette. It's pretty much stock. I have a 315 performance Diff, and an SLP Loudmouth catback exhaust. Now i want engine/performance mods. I am looking at gettinf a new intake heads and a cam. Any reccomendations. I can get an ls6 intake for 325 from a member here, Also i can pick up a set of Z06 heads for 750. Any reccomendations on a cam? Should i get the Zo6 heads, then change out the valves, rockers and so forth? what do you guys reccomend, I am modding on a budget.

02 or newer LS6 heads. These got the hollow Intakesa and the sodiumm filled exhaust. Just change the spring retainers to Ti, and call it a day.

02 or newer LS6 Camshaft. or the Hot cam is good for engine longevity.
Headers to finish up.

retune the PCM . and go P car Turbo Hunting.

headers?....tune....all the normal bolt ons bro

The old cobra was okay, but the vette is an entirely different league of car. Just different feel/handling and the targa top is pimp in the summer time.

if you've still got the stock airbox, a new air intake will be a good place to start. I'd also add headers before messing with anything inside the engine, you won't get as much of a gain from the head/cam if they can't get air in/out of the engine fast enough.

The 2 best sets of headers out there now are LG and Cooks headers. They aren't cheap (~$2K), but usually show around 30rwhp on most cars. With the cheaper ones, you're lucky to get 15.

The LS6 intake is good, your only other option is the FAST intake which is at least $700 for the 78mm and more for the 90mm. You can find them used on e-bay, but becareful doing that. I know of 1 FAST intake on ebay right now that is from a blown engine.

Have you thought about doing gears? You could probably get your hands on a used Z06 diff pretty easy if you search around on the net, or get a DTE unit with all of the durability upgrades.
