I am getting a 97 SS 6 speed and it has the thing that makes you shift from 1-3. The first mod will be to get rid of that. Where is it sold at? What is it called? How much does it cost? Thanx for helping the newbie.

Just floor it and it will not bother you, or shift above 2500.

It's called skip shift and you need a skip shift eliminator. Most of the aftermarket places sell them, or you can make your own.
Check out http://www.ls1.com and goto their Mods sections. Then you will see Skip Shift (!CAGS). This has the proocedures to do your own. It only a 2.2kohm resistor.

Give me your address and I will mail you one MPS. They are a 20pfening resistor. Works perfect...

The CAGS resistor mod, or the $15 part that caps both ends, is only to keep the SES lite off. You want the lite to work because it lets you know your car is running in open loop.

If you use the resistor make sure you weatherproof both ends after you unhook it.

So if I put this resistor in I will get a SES light? If that is the case I will spend the cash for the other part.

George will hook you up. One is as good as another. I have the aftermarket piece, he has the resistor. They both work the same.

You get the light if you just unplug it.

Oh. As long as I don't get the light. That is all I was worried about.

Use the resistor the George sends you, using the mod instructions I tld you about earlier. You will still get a skip shift light, but the soleniod won't force your shifts and no SES light.

Exactly!!! Hopefully if everything goes smoothly I will have it within 2 weeks. Then hopefully the weather holds out so I can have some fun and get use to the car before winter hits.

I just talked to my friend at veichle reg (pass and ID) and found out what I would need to get it switched over to me. Doesn't sound to difficult at all. As long as the guy has all of the papers I need.

German title book
German de-regestration form (green form)
Bill of sale

That's it!!

I am really starting to get excited:)

Yeah, when you buy a used car here from a lot you have to have the same things. It is very easy. Is christmas coming early?:)

I sure hope so! My wife will probably try to play it off as such. She's a great person, but she just isn't happy about this purchase. She never liked the Camaros. That's why I have stayed clear of them, but I am sick of playing around. It is time to get serious about performance. I plan on putting a supercharger on it when I get back to the states. Hope to run 11s all day and still be able to drive it everywhere everyday. What can I say. This car stock will run circles around my supercharged Civic Si I am selling. Well maybe not circles, but it will be quicker in stock form than my hopped up Civic is.
