Ok, here's the deal: everyone knows I am going with the stroker 383, so I have a few questions about exhaust upgrades. First off, I already plan on purchasing a cat-back system.

1: Is it really worth the money to upgrade to LT's and y-pipe if I alredy have shorties on the car?
2: If (no probably when) I upgrade, which headers should I get between Dynatech and Hooker?
3: Any opinions on which cat-back system I should get?

I've already decided %80 that I will go with either the hooker or flowmaster system. I can't see the money for a borla or corsa. I've heard the B&B doesn't fit with the wings west kit (maybe next winter plus paint). I feel the loudmouth will be TOO loud with the 383. I respect all opinions.

I think you should sell me your headers! (You can make a new offer for a price if you want!)

1. Yes, and besides, since your already re-investing 30% of the price of the car into the engine, do you really want to skimp now?

2. It would probably come down to price. But the golden rule #1 You get what you pay for. My FLP's werent cheap, but they have a 1/2" flange, ceramic coating, and the runners were smoothed out also.

3. As a owner of both Borla and flows, I can apply golden rule #2. A fool and his money. However I dont think you can get much louder than a 2 chamber flows setup.

G'luck

Well to tell you honestly, I've heard good things about both Hooker and Dynatech. The Dynatech's come coated for $430 + $99 for a good collector. $530 compared to Hookers jet-hot coated for $565. The y-pipe is the same from muflex. Thunderracing has it for $250.

Ok here is the really big question: should this upgrade to LT's occur while the engine is out? How much harder will it be to do later on?

If you are going with a stroker, it will definately be worth it to get some LTs. I personally like the Hookers for the LT1 cars. If you can swing it, it will definately be easier to put them in when you do the engine. Jet-Hot has some pretty good prices for the headers with their coating on them and they will install the O2 bungs too.
For a cat back system, I'd look at the Mufflex systems. Extremely good flowing hi-quality systems and not priced too bad.

I was thinking about the loudmouth too. The only thing is that it is loud on your car with headers. The 383 will be louder than mine is now even with the same exhaust. With the LT's, I think it would be obnoxiously loud. They are the second cheapest system though. $350 from tbyrne. Musclecar technologies is having a GP on them too, for $265. I'm not sure if they are for LS1's or both.:-dunno:

With a stroker and LTs the Loudmouth will be obnoxiously loud...too loud IMHO. Stay with something with a muffler.

You could always get a cutout, and then when you want "obnoxiously loud" you can have it!! ;)

Check out their website:http://www.dynatechheaders.com
There are 2 for our cars, but I'm unsure of the difference. The 1 3/4" are $430, plus $99 for the collector. The y- pipe is sepparate.
