4:10s with more than 390 or so at the wheels will hurt you N/a or not. The reason is that before you finish the 1/4 track your already tacked out in fourth and fifth won't give you anything more when your that close to the finish line. This is what I found out the problems with 4:10s are so when I bolt on the blower I'll probably be changing them again.
Anyone need stock 3:42 Ring and Pinion gear and an old posi unit.

I talked to a few people and they said there was an alternative to really tighten up the back end. I'm not sure who's ever seen these c clips but when I redid my rear end the first time I saw them I was like WTF: All they do is clip on a grooved slot on the end of each axle and thats all that keeps your axles from coming out. I really does just look cheap and very unsafe ecspecially for high speed driving and CORNERING over here. I waiting for this guy to e-mail me as soon as he does I'll let everyone know incase they decided to do it. This goes for LS1 also.

The only way the C clips will fall out is if that fat retaining pin falls out and if that happens it is going to tear up your pumpkin anyway. Trust me it happened to one of the AF suburbans on the auto bahn and the C clips were still in there holding the axles in even after all of the other damage. I'm sure anything can happen though?

In my opinion, 4.10's are the bomb. But like the others say n/a only. Also if you get them along with a cam, you will want to bump up your rev-limiter according to your powerband. Theres nothing worse than shifting a car thats good till 6400 at 5800 cuz the limiter will kick in, and you have to shift into 5th or ride the rev-limiter the last 100ft through the traps. I speak from experiance. If I ever get a tranny in my car, I can let you take it for a drive and you will see what 4.10's are about.
I let Rob and he was hooked!

Krazy I may have just forgot since it's been a few years but I don't recall there being a dowel pin on the axles. I may be wrong but I'll let you know in a couple of weeks or so.
Jeff totally agree with you on the rev limiter. I never drove a car with four tens but from say so the car tacs out pretty quick. About the tranny you can have mine as long as I can have your engine. J/k.

The dowel pin is in the differentail. It is in the center of the diff. in order to remove the C clips on the axles you have to remove the dowel pin from the center of the diff and then push the axle in toward the center of the car. The axle moves in just enough so you can get the C clip off of it and then you can slide the axle out. All the Dowel pin is doing is preventing the axles from moving inward. At least that is how it is set up on Fords. And that Chevy suburban that came in the shop looked to be the same set up. I am not all knowing, so I coud be wrong Peace

Krazy your right on that dowel pin. But even though you have that there if a clip breaks your still screwed.

either way you look at it the C clip idea isn't really that good. This is why I want to upgrade to somthing a little more reliable. I don't want to hear the magic Crunch crunch clunk bang from the back of my car. And from the looks of it with the power I'm adding just might happen. I want this to be the last time my car is down for the next 3 years till I leave and I'll have the resources to fix it easier.

Any safety enhancer is good, but why put money in a temporary fix when your gonna have to have a differant rear any-hoo? The only downside to the 4.10's are that they are alot weaker (what do you expect from S10 pickup gears ), so its not really a if they break but a when they break deal.
Start collecting pennies for the Moser or Strange that you must have.

Rob that damn sure is the truth to. I know that one day in the hopefully far future I'm going to have to just break down and buy a whole new rearend. I would like to buy one now but with all the money I'm spending in the engine I think the wife would give birth to a cow. Also I would rather wait till I get state side again that way I'm not paying an arm and leg on shipping. If I can sturdy it up enough to last me 3 years i'll spend the few hundred to do it even though logically it's not the brightest idea.

No 5K dumps and you'll be alright. That's where all the stress takes place on launch. Just go easy and besides you're in autobahn country not 1/4 stop light to stop light country........

I don't think I'm going to do any 5k dumps. I'm tired of this thing being broken. I figured I would drive it like a grandpa.
