Any of you guys know the cost and/or power gains achieved with converting to a sollid roller cam? If this was brout up before, I appologize. I tried a search on cz28 and came up dry. The only thing I have heard is they are more maintenance, but I would like to know more. We are talking next winter at the earliest, I am mostly currious.

get used to adjusting valve lash. Maybe some performance bennies, but the non-stop valvetrain adjusting would get old pretty fast IMO.

If I am not mistaken don't you have to pull the engine to remove a valve cover on a LT1? :)

George Smart azz :) Dave you'll have a headach about once a month as Rob Stated. You have to pull both valve covers bring your number one piston to top dead center and adjust all odd cylinders somthing like that I can't remember what cylinders it is exaclty. Then you'll have to roatate the assembly by hand 360 degrees and adjust the rest. You also may have to pull the intake off to get the right tension on your push rods. There really isn't enough finger room to check from the heads. If you over tighten you just bought yourself a new cam because you'll wear down the journals on the camshaft. If it was me I wouldn't do it. That just opens up to many chances to replace stuff. Just my 0.2 cents.,

I was reading up on this also. Seems that if you want big power, solid roller is the way to go.
Aside from taking the covers off of a LT1 its pretty easy to adjust valves, just start the car with the covers off, loosen the valve till it clacks, slowly tighten it till it stops, then 1/4 turn more. I imagine a solid roller is adjusted the same way?

My dream motor is a solid roller:)

So basically you are talking about stepping up to a race only setup. I'm still currious how much more of a power gain this would give.

Going out on a tiny limb here but I don't apreciate that email George based on your comment here. I don't clog the board and you know it.

I thought I was the only one who got it. Although I will admit I did over post just a little. It was still a nasty little e-mail though. That's alright what ever doesn't kill us will make us stronger. :)

Well that is prolly why you are back to being a lowly 'Senior Member' instead of one of those cool 'No Lifers'. Bad, evil, posters.

O and Bruce, this conferms my theory, of your e-mail addy doesn't work. That is why we keep getting those errors when you don't take that check mark out of the send a message block.
