My poor car is sitting all alone on some dock in the middle of nowhere. It is enroute to El Paso Texas. With all of the speed shops there, upgrades shouldn't be a problem. My question. I am going to put a 383 Stroker and Vortec heads on the LT-1, what would be a good grind for a mid-range cam? I want it to lope a little, but not to the point where it's gonna stall. Anybody that's smarter than me on this issue your input would be greatly appriciated. Thanx.

Well basically just order a cam from jegs with the RPM band you feel comfortable making power in (high lift, good duration) The sky is the limit if you want to race you want a HIGH rpm cam that makes power 5-7k and running a 5000 stall converter with low gear ratios (numerically high)this will make your car launch at a high RPM where the cam is giving it power and the low rear gears keep the RPMs high so your always in the power range, the car might make 250 hp off idle but 500 hp at 5,500 for example so if you want to be fast with radicall race cam you need the converter and gears to match. thats where the streetability issues come in. You will be leaving stop lights at 5000 and guzzling gasoline like no tommorrow see not a good street combo
A cam with healthy power band 3500-5500 is what you need...
a good converter would be a 2500 stall and a 4.10 gear
that would be the best combo I can think of offering the best combo between fuel mileage and streetability vs drag racing
