I was filling out my Fastchips order form last night, (man they are long) and it made me think. (imagine that)

What would you set the factory limiter to? I picked 6700rpm

Under the question..NOS? I put yes, but since I'm only running 100hp or below, do I really want Ed to program in the retard (probably 2-3 deg) at WOT?

All of this centers around ignition. As a side note, I got rid of my Accel 300+ and the MSD setup, and replaced it with a MSD dig 6, so I will have the option of setting my own retard up to 9 deg. Using the standard formula, of 2deg for every 50hp, that should be plenty, and I would use the soft touch limiter instead of factory set, at around 6400-6500rpm.(dyno dependant) The obvious response I expect, is to set the factory limiter to 7k, but I want a safety margin built in, incase the msd takes a crap.

I think that with the LT4 set-up you would be fine at about 6700 - 6800 rpm Redline. As far as retard, I would use the MSD unit and not have him program anything in.

You really should give him a call and discuss it with him though, he is the expert, explain to him what you have and want and he can make recommendations. For the money they charge, take full advantage of their expertise.

Just my $.02

the only thing that scares me, is that the cast crank WILL fail if you repeatably spin 6500 or over. I'm checking into the Hydra-Rev kit, cuz for 250bucks it cheap insurance against replacing a handful of rods, springs, valves and possibly the heads.

I'm gonna do that, but first I want to make sure I get my money back from mustgofaster(I mean mustgotojail).

I think I will specify 7-7.25k rev limit. I'm a bad shifter, but I shouldnt overshoot that far if the MSD malfunctions. Besides, if it does and I'm spraying, atleast it will only do it once!Image
