Okay I have all kinds of questions about these cars.

1. Did the TA come with ram air in 94 or 95? If not when did it start as an option.

2. What is the factory rated HP and Torque for these cars. Please be year specific.

3. These are the heaviest of the cars (Camaro,Firebird,TA) correct? If so what are the typical performance #s from the TA, please be year specific.

I am sure I will come up with a lot more questions. I have been dabbling in the 4 cylinder world to long and am trying to fight my way out. My car is sold as of Friday/Monday what ever day we can get to the bank and vehicle registration, so I am very serious about buying another car. Hopefully I can find a Camaro, Firebird, TA soon. I have a few options now thanx to you guys/girls. Are there any girls on here? I will stop babbling now. Peace

I am not sure of the Ram Air. I think 96 is when they started putting it back on. If it is a WS6 which is the ram air it will have the WS6 option code in the glove box.

The TA is the heaviest of the group. It is also the most feature loaded as the standard. The TA comes with all of the bells and whistles. Will the extra weight hurt, not at all. These cars have a small amount of variance in power due to factory tolerences that allow them to pretty much be even. It just depends on the one you get. I hope this helps. Congrats on being rescued....:)

Thanx, I should find out today what year it is for sure. I hope it is the 95. I want to get as new as possible. I will check the car out on Friday after work and will definetly know more then. As long as I can stand the paint job and the car isn't nasty on the inside I will probbably get it. Any info on these cars or what I should look for as far as possible probblems when I check it out would be great. Thanx

I believe 96 on the ram air option also. With the ram air, the hp is 305 for ALL years of LT1 cars (93-97). Otherwise I believe it is 285hp. These numbers are for BOTH the Formula and TA. Also the z28.

Just a thought, but if you have a option, or a couple of choices, I would recommend a OBD I car (94-95). 1. Parts are cheaper 2. Wont go pyscho when you change air/fuel parts.

GM played HP games, the 94 was rated at 275, the 96's bumped to 285 (due to a change from 1 big cat, to 2 small cats, or was it because the vette hp bumped up?) Either way, who keeps the stock manifolds/y pipe/exhaust on anyway? The fastest LT1 cars out of the box are the 93's, but because they were SFI and speed density, and had a removable chip they dont fit into the aftermarket as easily.

I wouldnt get to carried away with hp numbers. A good CAI, and catback will cost about $500 and give a normal LT1 the same if not more power than a ram air with SS style exhaust.

I would also watch out for the super clean engines also, LT1's are notorious oil drippers from the intake (front and rear), and from around the crank hub/timing cover. If the engine has been washed because of the above, then there is a chance that the opti-spark has been soaked also (another achilles heel) 94 have sealed units, 95+ have vented opti's.

Great info, keep it coming please. I am definetly soaking it all in. The TA I am trying to find out about is a 94-95, so I was told. I am leaning toward that year anyway do to price. The less I have to finance the better. I will have $7,000 cash to put down, so if the TA is $10,000 then I only have to finance $3,000 :)

You could get the Ram air Firehawk in 93. If you find a really cheap F-body be careful and get it checked out. things to check clutch, Trans, brakes, tires, engine oil radiator fluid and shocks. Be on the look out for leaks @ rear diff and rear main seal on some go bad. Do not get me wrong these are good cars but they have alot of power and are driven harder than a station wagon. Good luck.
