Hi,

yesterday the check-engine-light of my 2000 V6 vert came on. I stopped, checked all the liquids, found that I was a little low on power steering fluid, but did not have anything to fill it up, got into the car again and continued my journey.

After 10 minutes or so the light went off again.

Since then it did not come on again.

Anyway I could find out the problem without reading the diagnosis files?

Since the light is off right now: Does it mean that whatever the problem was, it was of a temporary nature?

Or do I need to worry?

BTW: A few minutes before the light came on I hit the exhaust on a bump quite hard.

Had the same thing happen once last year ... when I restarted the engine, everything was fine again ... guess you won't need to worry too much unless it comes on again ...

Hmm, there really might be something wrong.

I had the car on the Autobahn today for about 250 km. It ran strong as usual continously up to the maximum speed.

After that bit of Autobah I drove 20 km or so on a regular highway with some W.O.T. accelerations for passing. During those accelerations I observed an "uneven feel" in the engine, as if it was hesitating for a second or so. The check-engine-light did not come on, though.

I guess I have to get the car to the garage to get an onboard diagonstic scan. Problem is I do not have time for that for the next couple of weeks.

Damn...

So far this car cost me an average of almost 10 Eurocent per kilometer for maintenance and repairs. In that respect the most expensive car I ever had. It even beats my old Corvette C4! Guess I got to get rid of it soon....
