OK, got the basis for the member administration up and running. I've combined the administration a bit between the forum and the memberlist, as the member list uses the password you use for your forum entry. Therefore, please sign up for the forum (if possible, use the same username as you use here, that will make it easier once I transfer the forum database to the new server) here: http://www.fbodyeurope.org/board. Then, go here: http://www.fbodyeurope.org/signup.php, select your username, enter the data, and save ... let me know if there are any unwanted "features" ... next step will be upload-possibility for pics of your ride ...

OK, signing up seems to work fine, the member list now is clickable to get the user information ... next thing on the list is the image upload - random images will then be used on the member info. You will be able to use the member images at other places, too (like on the board). Next thing after that will probably be email addresses, i.e. you'll be able to create yourself an email alias under @fbodyeurope.org, which will be forwarded to any regular email account ...

Hey This is starting to get a little out of hand here .
Is there a problem with moving this board to the new domain and keeping what we have so far.
Shoot we only have 51 members and only 20 or 21 have found this board to log back in or are probably a little fed up with things. If it moves again and we have to reregister again , the board will probably have less than half of that. Come on lets try the KISS approach here. Garry I applaud you for your efforts and everything , I am just thinking about how I feel and anxiety I get from all of this.

I hope not, but I have to wait till George is back ... as I mentioned before, I will require access to the old (read: this here) database in order to transfer it to the new version&server (0.97 here, 0.98 on the new server). I am confident that it will work out, so for the moment, you can just sign up with minimal data (that is, username and pw) with the new board, and I'll get the rest fixed once I have the data ...

OK, picture posting is up and running. If you have an entry with the board at the new server, you can use that login data to access your personal gallery at http://fbodyeurope.org/pics.php. Apart from uploading a file, you can also select whether you want the image available for the random display on your member view or whether you just want it stored for other uses. Please note, I do not do any scaling there, so if you want a small version for usage as in your signature or so, please upload a small version ... for the member view, I am using a browser scaling to 320 pixels wide, so if possible, pictures for the member view should be somewhere in that area ... For those who have not yet signed up with the board at the new site - just sign up with the minimal amount of data, I will get the rest transfered once George is back ...

And finally, the random ride pictures are displayed with the member information ... that's that I guess ... let me know if you're having any technical problems with it ...

I have to chime in with Roy, I know this sounds simple to you Garry, and you are really doing alot of work, but much like the K.I.S.S theory, "if it aint broke...."
If there is any chance of losing data, it isnt worth it IMO. I mean, we lost about 1500 posts by moving to this board.
When it gets started it looks like we have 10 or less members with 2 posts. I prefer to have an archive of data, that may or may not be helpful to someone some day.
I'm just a user of the board, and what will be will be, but lets just stick to modding the cars, not the board.
I know that nobody asked for it, but this is my opinion.
Rob

FYI - changing the data structures from the current version to the one on the new server involves updating 6 tables with a new data field each ... just made a trial run here, worked fine ...

Quote: Nice work Garry, seems as though nothing ever changed, save the site address.... The new site is still pointing to the original board ... I got all I could without the password from George, I expect the board data to be transfered as soon as he gets back and in touch with me ... will probably be a 15min downtime in order to get a database dump and transfer it, but that should be all ...

For computer unfriendly people like myself. 1. Do we get to keep my board status with how many posts I have. 2. Is it going to be another 2-3 months till I figure out how to get my pic back. 3.(statement) People seem to be posting alot with this board the way it is. If we have to change it again we are going to have fewer members is it worth it.

Quote: 1. Do we get to keep my board status with how many posts I have. 2. Is it going to be another 2-3 months till I figure out how to get my pic back. It will be a 1:1 database dump and import - same postings, same users, same status ... just a different server that hopefully does not have the kind of problems the current has every now and then, and the new address. No changes. Oh, and the new version has a couple bugs & problems fixed, like the IM under Netscape ... Quote: 3.(statement) People seem to be posting alot with this board the way it is. If we have to change it again we are going to have fewer members is it worth it. See above - no changes ... Heck, we're having more postings here than what I'm seeing at f-body.com, and there's a _lot_ more people online there ... wouldn't want that to change, though hopefully the "roll call" thread will cease to exist or be used once most of the people here got their 100 posts & member status ... Anyway, stop worrying - before George gets back, there's nothing I could change even if I wanted to ... I'm going through the necessary things with him and get it organized in a way that all here can live with ...
