Just got a notice for a 48 in a 30. That's £60 and 3 points on the licence for the first time in 25 years! So the new exhaust is on hold while I buy a radar detector! 'm wondering if the UK "States Plates", being non-reflective, show up on GATSO? This LS1 is the first car I've had for 10 years with legal UK reflective plates...but I can change them to "States Plates" if they don't show up on the GATSO's.

USe the cruise control in speed zones and keep your foot off the pedal. Even a gentle squeeze on the pedal invites the police!!!

Lucifer,
Gastso will catch ANY plate no matter what material or coating. This info comes from yours truly who has been caught on film several times in the country that has adopted the GATSO as their national treasury with about 15.000 units in a country the size of Wales !!
However if you pass it with a speed greater than 257 km/h it can not register the car or swerving from lane to lane very quickly also break the radar track.
Motorcyclistss simply stretch their legs and cover the plate with 1 foot

The 3rd gens had the right idea when you "accidentally" left the number plate down after filling up. Ah well, the radar detector it is then.

Hey, Phoenix95 had this clear plastic thingie that went over the license plate, that had the reflecive stuff on it. So when you get flashed by the camera, all they get is a blank plate. I think he got some nastygram from the Polizei that said 'take it off' or something.

No they didn't know who he was... he was just parked downtown, and when he got back he found the note under his wiperblade. I guess it was a meter-maid or something.

I had the tinted covers over my plates and the SP kept making me take then off since they weren't leagal in German to have any tipe of cover on your plates.

Covers won't help much --- they'll usually only delay the picture processing, and through the computer, they will usually get you anyway ... plus they'll increase the fine for attempting to manipulate the plate ... at least in Germany ... they had an article on that in ADAC magazine once ...
