Ran into this guy the other day w/ a red 94 I believe. Impeccable condition. Sound like he had some work done to the exhaust at least but the way it sounded more or less engine work. Of what type I don't know, did ask. Told him "nice zr1" and he was shocked. Guess he doesn't expect me to know anything about ZR1's. Be on the lookout for it it's a nice car. So now there are two running in K-town a blk and a red one. Supposedly there is another one that's grey but haven't confirmed it yet.
Also a guy from a Baumholder has a Z06 and is running at the Nurnburgring. Saw his post on the corvette forum.
It's gonna be a fun summer. They'll still see my tailights though at least in my dreams until I make it a reality.............

I forgot:
The day I saw the darkgreen Camaro at the Nurburgring, I also saw a black ZR1 there (with German plates).

Holy Schnikies!!!!!
I read an article on Mr Hennessey and his 900 hp monsters. I think he said his goal was 1000hp? just because???? Like 100,000.00 for the upgrade (on top of the Viper purchase) I think.
Dayum.....

I talked to a guy with a black ZR1 in the Ramstein BX parking lot today. He said that he is trying to sell it. It is a 94. He said that he wanted $32,000 for it. Now I have a question for all of you. Does anyone know who built the engine for the ZR1? Hint: It wasn't GM.

funny history, at the time John Deere was the leader in aluminum engines, but the brass didnt want to have a tractor motor in it.
Roy is correct
there was also some Lotus involvement I believe.

The LT5 was the first engine Lotus had any involvement in that the public didn't have to do all the development work on. Good old Colin Chapman could make a car handle but couldn't spell the word "reliability". He thought someone said "liability". Remember the Jensen Healey which was the test-bed for the Elite/Eclat engine. It was so unreliable, it had a spare car in the boot. I seeem to recall the Talbot Lotus Sunbeam also had some public development for the 2.2 litre version. LOL.

Mercury Marine is correct. They were built at the little town of Stillwater Oklahoma. The reason they had Mercury build them is that the aluminum alloy that Mercury is both patented and secret. There is something different about how they make the alloy. The only reason I knew is that I know some people in Stillwater. I went to college there several years ago.

I think the ZR1 is a tad over-rated. NIce awesome car but not the ultimate legend everyone believes it is. See www. ukstreetracers.com for the times which are quick but not astonishing. Now the Z06, that's a car.
