Hey Hawk, do you know what the tech rules are going to be?
Do we need helmets? That could be a big problem for a lot of the people.
My car is basically stock so it should run a low 14 high 13 in the 1/4 mile, if the loose nut behind the wheel can keep it together. So what are all of the safety concerns/items I need for my car to pass tech?
When I use to bracket race my SHO, they just looked under the hood (checked the battery) and made sure all of the lug nuts were there. Is this going to be the same basic thing? I would really like to see the rules that we are playing by. Thanx for all of the help, Peace

From what I have heard, the rules will be NHRA rules. So yes to the helmet. 99% sure everyone will need the driveshaft safety loop. Cars running faster than 12.00 will need the 8 pt rolecage. Even for our little side races acourding to Tony. That's the poop I got because I asked Tony personally.

I would be more than willing to help in anyway possible, the only thing I know is Giebelstadt Army Airfield won't allow us to race on the airfield due to the glider traffic and the fact that it is an emergency airfield.

I am a newbie so I don't know anything about any of these events. Hell, I don't even know how to go about joining FBE, but I want to. Just my 2 cents worth, but it might be easier to start with shows or cruises to show the interest and get more people talking to their MWR directors about it. Having been a Commander in the past myself, I would have been a little bit hesitant to support a race unless I saw a real need for it due to the risk of injury involved. But, I would have been much more likely to support it if I knew it was something that there was a lot of interest in and a concern for safety. It might be a little difficult to allow non-military people to participate if it is on base due to the potential for lawsuits. I'm definitely not trying to rain on this parade because I think it is a great idea. Years ago, I was in a group that talked our commander into a test of racing events on the base. This just requires some real thought and a way to show the level of support. If we ever get it, it also means that the group will need to do a lot of self-policing to make sure no one does something stupid that could end it for everyone. Anyway, I am definitely all for it. Let me know what I can do to help.

... That is a lot of information... and to think that all of this came from A FEW guys that wanted to get together and talk about their cars...I did not read all the posts, but it does seem like FBE is getting very over looked, and from my understand in the beginning, this MASS was never a goal. I feel the MWR is great, but where will FBE stand in this? I am aware that I am female and no longer live in Germany, but I feel like I have to add a little something. I know there are a lot of people out there that made FBE what it is, and to just add them to something bigger I do think is so fair. Maybe selfish, but I know George and I worked our asses off to get this up, and I would hate to see all the hard work in the beginning over looked. From my sense of the cub, it never was to be a MASS event. O well... as long as there is a place to race, that is the bigger picture. I can just say that I am glad to have helped even if it gets over looked. I will keep my fingers crossed that the F-Bodies stick together as a team. I miss you guys and hope you kick ass.
ps Take this how you like.... I did not mean anything by it....You who know me understand.....

Your post kinda pissed me off to tell the truth "Mycar2"
This group of guys was togethor long before there was a web page. The group of guys was and always will be the reason for being. If John and the clan want to work with Tony and OSL, then so be it. It has nothing to do with the Fbody club, which from what I gather from the AAR's of meets, is on its last legs anyway.
When George was asking what to do with the club way back when, I predicted this, and added my .02 cents to avoid this. My opinions were disregarded, and I respected that, however you like me are one of the has beens, not one of the there in the now people.
Let them run they're club now, and we will continue to armchair quarterback from a distance in silence.
......I want to add again that I have no opinion on what happens, and I'm only here to offer what I can, when I can. But I firmly believe that if your not there, then quite simply..........your not there.

You can take off the non flammable underwear, I will not post to this board anymore. I am a "has been" and will act as so. I will be grateful everyday for the things that George and myself did to make what the club ALREADY HAD better. I had a great time getting to know you guys and gals. Like I said before, I hope that FBE does not get lost in the fun.

Quote: If you loss the first race then you just spent $20 bucks for 3 runs down the track and wasted 3-5 hours of your time, all because every Tom, Dick, and Harry was out there that night. I don't have too many comparisons here, but the Moroso track I was at two weeks ago didn't look too much different ... the lines were pretty long, and they also had several different classes running (like street legal, bikes, etc.). Sure, having maybe 200 cars there would be nice money-wise, but suck from the racers' point of view ... from what we have learned (hopefully) from Sembach, we will need to make sure we have the organization worked out to have it run smoothly ... Quote: run several different brackets for the cars. You can't expect a stock VW golf to want to run against an F-body and think it is fair(unless of course you are running bracket racing)?
Hm ... the trophies runs will be bracket, so no different classes required there - the grudge will be open for anybody to run anybody, so if a Smart should decide to run against a Viper - go ahead ... AutoX will be different of course - we may want two or three diferent classes there ...
Also, as to different classes - please note that (to my knowledge) we will not be able to run cars with open headers or without muflers due to noise regulations ... this probably keeps a couple cars away ...

Thats why you got to win the first one! If you don't want anybody else there, just go by yourself! Isn't it more fun for the winner to be recognized by more people than just another 20 fbody-owners... or are you afraid to get beat by a VW golf Quote: You can't expect a stock VW golf to want to run against an F-body and think it is fair(unless of course you are running bracket racing)?
... just to let y'all know: I would run my stock corolla against anything. If I loose - I loose. Do it for fun anyway.
I WILL BE WITH TONY IN BITBURG ON TUESDAY!!!
Any inputs, ideas, open questions ... Speak now or never.
I will take notes from right here until tomorrow midnight.
Or send me an email (also before Monday night, can't read anything at work). Thx.

This is up to us!!! I think we can all get together and race our hearts out. This is a 2 day event so there will be plenty of track time. if I am not racing I will be talking smack and trying to back it up on the track. I have a helmet that I would lend out. I have almost as much fun meeting and talking new as racing so its all fun for me.

I know I'm new to the seen and every thing but I think M.W.R. route would be perfect right along with the Army Airfields I knew they were closed on Sat.& Sun. but never really thought of it for (i.e) shows/races or any other events good idea though. I would be more than happy to help out with whatever I can, I just need some direction from you.I'm going to be out of the loop for the month of May (got to go to P.L.D.C.) but as soon as I return I will do what I can thanks.
