I figured I would take this time to tell everyone what actually happened to my car. I've got quit a few e-mails from board members asking what the status on my Z is so here goes.

John and I pulled my motor about 1 1/2 months ago right before I left for the field. Well when we got it out we pulled the oil pan off and had seen the damage of a life time. This is my theory on what happened, I spun a bearing causing the crank to move and I snapped my #8 connecting rod. Along with the connecting rod i'm missing 1/2 of 3 pistons and my upper and lower oil pumps are no more. I did have a nice comp cam in there notice the words DID HAVE. The inside of the block is completly destroyed in every aspect the cylinder walls got lunched to the point to where the block will never be used again, it's pretty much a boat anchor now. The heads that were on the car suffered some damage do to a boomeranged pushrod and some metal pieces that just killed the bottom side of them so they can be used as small boat anchors, two each for sale OBO :) This is all I can think of for now I guess it would have been easier to just say complete melt down.

On a good note I have another engine I just need to get down to tonys to re-ring and bearing it. The camshaft is being upgraded with another comp cam ??? Thanks to John when I was in the field He looked out for me by getting me a set of cylinder heads ( appretiate the help ) I'm going to wait till my wife goes to school at the end of july to start bringing this thing back to life again. I would start sooner but I have to leave again in a week and a half for 15 days fun fun :( I should be up and running in a matter of no time. I have some work to do tommorow which will be pulling all of my interior to include carpet out again. I had a little mouse problem in my car and they ate some of the stereo wiring and left little BB's all over the inside and they peeeeeed alot. I'm lucky though the leather interior was untouched by mice teethe. I'm hoping this Saga will end soon I'm starting to get a little jealous everytime I see a camaro drive by. I can't wait to finally be able to go to some of these events that keep taking place.

It's called 7000rpm's on a stock motor crazy azz! You know you drive that thing too damn hard. It was just a matter of time. :) Hey those cylinder heads wouldn't happen to be off of a 96SS would they? ha ha Anyway, good luck with the new engine and maybe it will be able to run with the "SS" one day. Got to get the $hit talking started now that your back! Later, Mike

Good luck Ryan! If you need anything let me know I have a "few parts" lying around if you need somthing I may have it.

Are you going to port the heads? If so look into this cam: GM 847. Its killer! Big, but will cream a cc 306. Person on cz28.com layed down 400+ rwhp on a stock bottom end LT1 with ported LT1 heads, shorty headers and lackluster tuning with a very similar cam.

Reminds me of the Irish plumber who went to Niagara Falls and said "I think I can fix that"

Once again I'm feeling like a kid in a candy store. I just removed everything from the inside of my car. I removed the Roof to the carpet and started cleaning. It took one complete day to finish but my car is back up to standards on the inside again. I'm looking forward to getting back from force protection on the 15th July. I should have a whole garage full of parts to start installing. I'm feeling a good vibe for early to mid august after my wife leaves.

Jeff you hit that one on the head I am planning on going with the 306. I'm going to look into the cam you where talking about do you have a place I can start looking?? I got your e-mail I've just been so busy doing the worst part of a field problem, yup recovery (sucks).

That thing would be to big with stock heads. Proceed with caution That sounds like a strip or race cam It could be a dog if it is not set up right.

Damn thats a healthy Cam. I might have to stick to the cc306 for now. I have the feeling I would need a little extra intake air to support that cam. The cam does have some impressive numbers if I didn't mind pulling my car apart again I would buy just to see what it could do. I'll send you that link tonight.
