Well last week I went to the local street racing get together here in Darmstadt at the local Wal-Mart parking lot. I convoyed there with with a 89 GTA 350TPI(stock) , 99 Z(stock), 97 SS M6 (stock), a few other 4 cyls and myself in the F-1. Got there and parking lot was full of the usual riced/modded Opels, BMWs, MB's and such. Seems that the local Germans like to do the 1/8 mi right in front of Kelly Barracks here. I refuse to race cause of the narrow lanes. Well set up a race with the 97 SS and a Opel calibra turbo. Bit even out of the hole, with the SS coming out 1.5 cars at the 1/8th where it is shut down. Next up is the 89 GTA and he lines up with a 3 series BMW. This one was all GTA to the tune if a 1.5. Friend with GTA has to go as this is about 1 in the morning, so we decide to run the GTA against the SS. We go out on the bypass road (B3) and come to a stop. I am riding shotgun in the SS and on the count of 3 we go for it. GTA gets out about half a car, we are pulling on the GTA good but due to lackluster shifting, we lose a 1/4 car on each shift. We get just even and SS driver misses 3rd and GTA shoots off. We now decide to go from a 35MPH roll, this one is all SS by 3 cars. We do one more dead stop, SS driver has better run this time and gets the win by about 3 cars again.

We go back to the Wal-mart parking lot, and the Germans are egging me for a race. I tell them I am not going to race in this spot. We migrate accross town to the Opel dealership where there are alot of cars already there. This guy in a 90's MB wants to run me. He says he has some aftermarket engine under the hood but its a 4 cyl. I asked him if he has turbo, and he says no. I told him that I dont think it would be a good idea for him to run me, but he insists and says he won some race class yadda yadda yadda. I am getting bored so I figure what the hell, they wont leave me alone till I do. We drive down the street, stop in front of the light waiting for it to turn green. I look over and he seems to be reving his 4cyl to the moon. Light goes green and I baby it out of the hole, guy in MB is spinning but ever so slowly fading, I short shift to 2nd and as soon as I feel I have traction I stuff it, and I crush the poor guy by multiple bus lengths. We go two more times with the same results.
Next a guy with a 12cyl BMW wants to go from a 30k roll. I am thinking good, finally somone worthy. We go down the street to square off. I am sitting pretty in 1st gear I give him the kick and procede to lay the smack down with much vigor. We turn around after the run and go again coming the opposite direction. Same results I crush him pretty bad. I figured that a V-12 would do better than it did. I didnt expect it to be that bad.
Now some dude in a turbo'd Kadett, with roll cage and the whole 9 yards wants to go on the autobahn. I agree and blew him away to 150 MPH where I looked back and didnt se any headlights for 1/2 mile behind me.

Fast forward to just this past saturday night...

We go to wal-mart again but its just the 97 SS, 98 talon turbo awd and I. We meet a few friends there and parking lot is not so crowded as last week. Someone says that everyone is in Frankfurt. So we decide to race the 4cyl cars just for fun. We raced everything from a Jeep wrangler to a sunfire to a Neon for $hits and giggles. I must admit it was pretty entertaining watching them go at it.

We go to the Opel dealership cause the Polizei want to make thier presence known. At the opel dealership its the same thing but there are more people there including a modded 12cyl BMW (different from last week)and a heavily modded M3. The owner of the V-12 is a real cool guy and suggests we go to Morfelden which is just down the street from Rein Main AB. There is a nice deserted strech of road there with a wheat field on one side and a gas station on the other. Looks to be a full 1/4 here is possible.

The SS and V-12 BMW go at it. When they pass the crowd at about the 1/8th the v-12 had the SS by a nose, then further down it looked like the SS pulled it back on the deep end for the win. They run again on the way back and the SS gets him by about 3/4 of a car.

Now v-12 and Mr.Modded M3 go at it. They pass the crowd and the M3 has the v-12 by a car. On the way back the same results. Now I try to talk the M3 into a race with me and he doesnt want any he says " Nooo, SS" So the M3 and the SS run when they pass the crowd the SS has him by about half a car, they run on the way back and the same results.
Guy with the M3 is pissed saying that the driver cannot do the counting, but they were the only ones down at the starting line? The Germans say the guy with the M3 is pissed cause he put 130,000 euro into the car(including the cost of the car itself) and he just lost. So they go again, this time they have a flag man with a flashlight. When the light goes out they are off, same results. M3 driver still is bitching and wants yet another rematch. But SS has to go cause he has guard in 1 hour. I try to get M3 to race but he refuses. Then the riddiculing starts, everyone there, German and American start talking smack to the guy to get him to race me.
Seems he heard last week I crushed some of him homies and doenst want his 130K euro car to look bad. But his car ran pretty good, looked great but he lost to a stock SS. It was his poor sportsmanship that pissed me off and made me want to run him and make him look real bad. I am starting to get sleepy as its 4:30 in the morning and I told him I am leaving in 5 min so if he wants to cowboy up he better do it now. He declines and guy with v-12 BMW points to me and says "He won". I guess I won cause the M3 forfitted? lol

I wanted to burn that M3 bad cause of his attitude but he wouldnt do it, I guess I should have taken it easier on his buddies.

Take care,
Jeff

Hey, sounds like some good racing action. :) And it's not far away from me other than Nuernberg.

I had a good time. But there was alot of standing around and BS-ing compared to the racing action. If anyone wants to come and join me, shoot me a e-mail. I cant promise a whole lot of action, but beggars cant be choosers. Bout the best action I seen since I have been here.
I usually show up at the Wal-Mart parking lot around 2330-0000 on friday and saturday nights and see how it goes from there, and follow the action. Mostly its just 4-cyl of fury and a younger crowd and thier antics, but it beats sitting at home.

Ben, you are just right down the road from me, bout 20 min away, drop me a e-mail if you wanna come with.

Roy, how is everything? Hows the car? Hows the new unit?

Jeff

Sounds like fun!!! Sure wish we had action like that around the Bitburg area. I would've loved to see you beat up on those Beemers. Especially the M3. How much faster is the M5 comparied to the M3?? I heard CK beat up on one the other day.

Good stuff Jeff. Maybe I'll come down next time w/ the bent up quarter panels and shaking hood. LOL. I'll keep it dirty too so I don't look convincing.

I have seen all these guys at the OSL events. Bottom line you can have a good time wherever you park.

I would give em the flyers if I had them. But the street races are closer, free, more fun and a better surface than a certain OSL I went to :) Only thing missing is F-bodyEurope members.
