I wont know until monday, but as of tonight, it was pretty much signed, sealed, and all but delivered. Not a question of financing, that has been secured for months, its the serious highway robbery that is going on in the price arena.
All I will say until then is it has 4 cams and 32 valves.

WHOA!!!! SCREECH........guys, sorry to disappoint, but its not a '03 Cobra. I'll admit I went and looked at them, but the 1 of 2 dealers in this state are stuck to they're rule of tacking on 5k to the price just because. Nice, yes, but 39k, no.
Anyway, the car in question is a '01 Cobra. Facts are 8916 miles, and a dealer that has been stuck with it for the last 4 months. I went in, (one of my last million visits) and they played some SOB story about how they will probably just send it to auction, and I told them "thats too bad, but if you decide you want to sell it instead of auction just give me a call. The only problem is I'm only willing to spend 22k and your marking it for 28k."
Right now, we are 300 dollars apart, so in about 4hours, I call them and find out if they are ready to suck up the remaining $300 or try there luck with someone else.
In about 8 hours it will either be sitting in my driveway, or it will be sitting on the lot. Not real crazy about a blue car, but I've wanted a Cobra for so long (dont know why, I just do) that I'm willing to make a exception to my red rule.

Hey Rob, it might not be an '03, but it's still a Cobra.. For the price you might be paying for that, you could do alot to have more power, but still not have to pay as much. That is awesome. Post some pics if you get it!

Its a go. I signed the papers at lunch. One each 2001 Cobra calls my place home.
I've been able to drive it about 5 miles, but your can tell its a differant car. It has that deceptive quick feel about it, like a LS1. (I still havent been able to run it up to redline. 6800rpm just isnt something I'm used to doing), but man above 4k the sound is amazing.
I know its not the quickest thing in the world, but thats okay with me, its not supposed to be.
I'll post pics, and some sound bites real soon.
Later
Rob

Thanx guys.
The 93 5.0 is on the local base lemon lot, cuz it has to go. Kinda bittersweet about that, but I'm pretty sure I wont miss it. The Z is getting its insurance pulled so it can get that TLC over the winter that it needs. I can see the Z evolve into a weekend/playtime car.
The Cobra sits like its gonna stay. Sure there may be a set of billet door locks, or lighter in its future, but there are no 2 chamber flowmasters or 4.10 gears etc.. coming.
BTW, if you have seen the Cobra vids on LS1.com (the 2000 Cobra R video for example) if that guy had held each gear another 5-700 rpm, that is exactly what this thing sounds like. MMMMmmmmm, banshee wail!

You don't really expect us to believe that latter nonsense about the new addition, do you Rob? That's like Ryan saying he went back to stock after all that down time.....
