She is a 6ft German girl (household 6) seems to think I am spending too much money on the car? She wants a house suggested selling the Hawk for a downpayment. What do girls think how could she even sugest that?? I told her it is better to borrow money on a house and it is a investment and if she could understand most people can not pull 300,000 EU to build a fortress out of there pocket and that is why they have banks.
Without people like me the banks would be bankrupt intrest would be sky high. So I changed the topic and said I would buy a house in America and she could get a bigger one for the same price.

hm ... buying a house in Germany is pretty nuts - much to high cost ... both for the house AND for the living ... plus, who's going to buy a car like the 'Hawk??? With all you did to it, any car dealer wouldn't give you sh@t for it... plus, then you'd have to start all over again ...

If you ever consider a house, make sure it is where you like to be the rest of your life.
Try to find an inexpensive old house with large enough yard to build a new one, but don't tell when you buy. Then you don't have to buy the ground extra, which is not much cheaper itself than a house.
Then you build a new house and rent the other one out (or sell) and you re-finance this way, paying off month by month (or big part at once).
If you keep it, your son has his own house later on, and you're safing twice the rent... or just rent it out forever if he don't like to stay.

The bright side:
When the house has increased in value, you can take the equity out and spend more money on the car. Houses go up in value. Cars go down in an inversely proportionate ratio to what you spend on them.

Actually, Garry, there are a few people on this board who would be interested in the 'Hawk. Of that you can be assured.

Probably - the only question is how much of Bruce investments would be covered by what people are willing to pay ... usually, I guess you'll never really get your mod money out ... and while I know Bruce takes care of the car, I don't know if I'd want a car that's already taken a beating as the Hawk has ... anyway, for me getting the Hawk is out of the question ... first, I don't think Bruce is interested in selling it, and second I wouldn't be able to register it for Germany before hell freezes over ...

I have $40,000 invested car & Mods not counting time. My guess is it would be worth $23,000-25,000 as is. Detuned $18,000-20,000.

I told Hawk need a big garage with a TV and ice box. We'd never be in the house. Build a couple of Hawk motors.

You are right Garry!
Hawk I would buy your car for $23-25K in a heartbeat, but this club would not be the same without you! You are an integral part of this club, and I don't think anyone would disagree!

You too??? I wonder if Linda and Ingrid have been talking? This is scary. Same discussion at our house last night. Car vs. house. That is a tough one. Good luck.

OH my. You are joking, right Jerry? I can't imagine having your car, and my wife telling me that I couldn't keep it. I'm sure you guys will both get this worked out.
If not, I got dibs on the SS. Just kidding. But seriously.

She has calmed down now and decided that it makes sense to keep it, thank goodness. I just have to quit spending money on it for a while and get the savings back up. Sorry Jack, it is not for sale. If that point ever comes, you will be the first to know. There are some in Canada for sale at dealers though if you really want one.

Jack, are you back in town? If so, maybe we can get together and go for a drive, once you spend some time at home. Might want to do it pretty soon though in case she changes her mind again!!!!!

LOL, I know what you mean! Unfortunately though, I had to stay, because my replacment found out, the day after he got here, that his son had a tumor on his spine, so he had to fly out to Walter Reed. Hopefully they'll get a replacement down here within the next couple days.
