Does anyone know of a cheap place where I can ship my van through? I am using the military to ship the Camaro but need to ship my van. I am looking for the cheapest way possible, dont care how long it takes or extreme care. As long as it gets there in one piece and is running.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, there is a company called Harm that ships a lot of vehicles. I don't know if they are cheap or not. If you do a search for harm and auto transportation, you will find them. Don't remember the website though. Hope this helps.
I thought you had extended. Did you change your mind?

there is normally a couple adds in the stars and stripes. i hear its your choice to have it crated up or dock loaded. and they charge by weight and distance. i've got a friend who is doing it. i'll try to get a company name and price estimate.

Hm ... if you're shipping in a container, maybe some people here could use the free space to ship some parts they need, and in turn pick up part of your shipping bill ...

lets say there was someone in the states who would send a container over here. think it would be worth getting everyone together to do that? i know for a fact getting large pieces over here is expensive. i costed me $450 just shipping fee for my hood and nose clip. it only weighed 50lbs. if everyone was willing i could get some one to send a container with parts we need over here. you pay for your part(s) and everyone pay for thee container??? Just an idea to save on shipping$.

That is definitely an idea to consider. Personally, I'd like to get a z-style hood, but I am unwilling to pay the $300 to ship it here.

DOn't know prices, some time ago I read that shipping a car runs somewhere in the area of 1-2k ... I would imagine that shipping a container might be a bit cheaper even, though taking up more space it takes less work to handle ... and one container has LOTS of space ... For exhausts, hoods, body kits, ... I guess getting 10 people together to order stuff should do ... just need somebody trustworthy in the states to have the stuff sent/delivered to, and with a truck to put it in the container ...

How could anyone forget Randy? He was only 7 FEET TALL. Just kidding, but he is hard to miss. I also couldn't forget his blue convertible 3rd gen with black wheels. That was kinda hard to miss, too!

Car will be getting shipped either the 2nd week of Dec. or the 3rd. I plan to ship the Z via military and the van through a shipping company. Thanks for the links guys.
As far as shipping parts. Get with Sergio. Me and him had 2 t-56's, 1 Lt1 with all accy. K-member radiator fans, ect ect. We split shipping at $400, and weight didnt matter, just size. As long as everything fit on the pallet, you were good.
Jeff

Jeff
Just thinking about it... wouldn't it be cheaper to ship the Van through Military and the car by privat arrangement?
Because the car is less weight and cubic feet to pay for. Watever they use for charging. A Van should be more expensive.

Weight might be a close call - 4th gens are monsters when weight is concerned ... 1750kg is pretty much and hard to beat - my 'vert is definitely heavier than the Cherokee ... (why aren't I'm allowed to pull 2.8tons with my Camaro???? ) Also, lenght/width might be larger on the F-Body (depending on the van ...)
Anyway, I think weight isn't an issue, unless you're talking air freight ,)

Garry,
I think it is cubic volume (of the container, not the car)
... just a suggestion for Jeff to check on and think about it.
maybe to get an estimate price for both vehicles,
then he would know for sure where to save a few $

Just a suggestion, I would ship the Cam thru the private vendor (there is one that my friend used in Spang town at the Lloyds Insurace Company).... he shipped a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner... can't remember how much it ran him.. but it wasn't that bad and they flat bedded it right to his front door without a scratch on it and it only had 3 miles put on the odometer from the traveling..... just a suggestion.
